Occupancy in Dams in Bursa Was Valued in Savings

The occupancy rates in Doğancı and Nilüfer dams, where 85 percent of Bursa's drinking water needs are met, continue to increase. The stable pattern observed in rainfall, especially since the autumn months of 2023, brought a good result by feeding the drinking water dam basins.

WATER LEVELS HAVE INCREASED

According to the latest daily measurement reports, the occupancy rate in Doğancı Dam reached 89 percent and the occupancy level in Nilüfer Dam reached 100 percent.

According to the latest water level information in Doğancı Dam, it was around 2024 percent last month in February 4, while an increase of 4 percent was seen in Nilüfer Dam.

Compared to last year, the water level in Doğancı Dam increased approximately 4 (four) times, while Nilüfer Dam was at zero last year and reached 100 percent this year. As the Nilüfer Dam filled, Doğancı Dam also received its share of the overflowing water. Accordingly, water was released to Doğancı Dam, located in the lower basin of the dam.

“LET'S NOT LEAVE SAVINGS”

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who warned that the occupancy rates in the dams at comforting levels should not bring about complacency, called for saving money and continuing to use water with the same meticulousness.

Mayor Aktaş pointed out that as the improvement and renewal works in drinking water lines accelerated over the years, the rate of water loss and illegality, which was around 1995 percent in 65, was reduced to less than 2023 percent in the center at the end of 20, and said that thanks to the effective fight against lost and illegal water loss, 29 in 3 years. He stated that (three) dams of water were saved.

Pointing out that this situation is a striking example of preventing both financial resource waste and water waste, Mayor Aktaş added that citizens can also contribute to the national economy by saving water.
