The Bridge Destroyed in the Flood on Mudanya Rural Coast, Making Transportation Difficult for 4 Months

Heavy rains that occurred on November 30, 2023 caused floods, especially in Tirilye District and its surroundings, in Bursa's Mudanya district. The flood, which caused damage in Tirilye, also destroyed the bridge over the stream in Ketendere Mevkii. The bridge in Ketendere Mevkii, which was washed into the sea by flood waters in the disaster about 4 months ago, cut off the access of 38 households to their homes. Some of the local people who were in a difficult situation also fell into the water during this period.

Residents, who have been knocking on the door for 4 months to solve the problem in the area under the responsibility of Mudanya Municipality, claimed that the local governments were passing the buck on the repair issue because the beaches were in the Metropolitan Municipality. Residents who want the bridge to be repaired as soon as possible, including CİMER, stated that there is no door left untouched, and once again brought up the help they expect from the authorities through the press.

Residents of the neighborhood recalled that the bridge was dragged into the sea with the flood due to the rain, and said that AFAD, the Metropolitan and Mudanya municipalities came at that time, but the authorities left without any explanation. Residents stated that it was out of the question for them to cross the stream as the waters rose and said, “We applied everywhere, even wrote to CİMER. Nobody cared about us. We also went to Mudanya District Governor's Office, but our problem was not resolved. The problem we are experiencing is obvious. The bridge needs to be built as soon as possible. They expressed their demands by saying, “We expect help from the authorities in this regard.”

MUHTAR TOKTAŞ: EVERYONE IS KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE ISSUE, CITIZENS ARE VICTIMS!

Stating that 38 of the 25 households live in summer and winter, the residents said that they benefit from the zoning amnesty and that there are no zoning plans for the region since they do not have title deeds.

Yalıçiftlik Neighborhood Headman Arif Toktaş, whose opinion was consulted on the issue, stated that the Tirilye-Yalıçfitlik connection bridge collapsed for the second time, and that although AFAD and the Metropolitan Municipality came and said 'we will do it' regarding the bridge that was dragged into the sea in the recent rains, a solution has not been found yet, and noted that the residents' problems are great. .

Muhtar Toktaş stated that Mudanya Municipality is in the area of responsibility, but all units are aware of the incident because the authority on the beaches belongs to the Metropolitan Municipality, and said, “Our citizens are victims there. They told me from the Metropolitan Municipality that we can build this place in 4 days. For some reason, they took a step back when they saw that it was on Mudanya's field. There is also an electricity problem in the region. However, due to the lack of a bridge, trucks cannot reach the point where the houses are located. "However, if there is a bridge, I think the necessary work will be done on the electricity problem," he said.

As you may remember, the bridge, which was dragged into the sea as a result of the heavy rain three months ago, collapsed 10 years ago during the heavy rain in the region, and 10 vehicles as well as the citizens sitting on the other side of the bridge were stranded in the area.
