HOW CAN CONSUMERS APPLY TO CONSUMER ARBITRATION COMMITTEES?

Explaining how consumers should apply to the arbitral tribunals to prevent their grievances, Yılmaz said, “I must say that in 2024, consumers have the right to apply to the Arbitral Tribunal in the district governorships where they reside for their disputes up to 104 thousand liras. Consumers may be put in an unfair position due to incomplete information and documents when they apply online, as internet literacy is not very good in Turkey. Therefore, when they shop, it is essential that they base their purchases on information and documents and provide accurate information about the service or goods they purchase. They can make their complaints using this information. Secondly, when there is a lack of information and documents, the presidents of the arbitral tribunals give a period of one week. "When that letter reaches them, they must respond." he said.

CONSUMERS HAVE 4 CHOICES

Stating that consumers have four choices, Yılmaz said: "I want my money, I want a new one, I want a discount on the defect and I want it repaired." he explained.

“Consumers must present their identity information and the amount of the dispute accurately and clearly. The right of proof belongs to the seller, as he accepts the existence of defects that occur within 6 months on the first day of receipt.
