Awareness Event in Kocaeli

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality organized activity workshops at the Science Center for special individuals with down syndrome living in Kocaeli within the scope of March 21 World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. In the special program organized by the Metropolitan Municipality, individuals were planned to have a fun time with various workshops and activities. 'I'm Also in Sports' and 'I'm in for Art' students, students from Private Mürüvvet Evyap Special Education School, Nuh Çimento Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Kağıtspor Club athletes with down syndrome and individuals with down syndrome from the World Chromosome Brotherhood Association participated in the program.

EVENTS THAT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR DEVELOPMENT

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality has prepared a program full of activities that will contribute to the development of students with Down syndrome, specially for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Students had a very fun day at Seka Paper Museum and Science Center. The aim of the painter robot workshop held at the Science Center was to enable students to develop their electronic knowledge and mechanical hand skills by designing robots with materials they can access. As part of the event, a wooden bird's nest cage painting workshop was held at the SEKA Paper Museum, instilling in students the instinct to integrate with nature and protect animals.

Neriman Akbulut, President of the World Chromosome Brotherhood Association, said, "We came here as an association. Our children took part in today's awareness project. They had a great time here. They experimented and found themselves. For this reason, I would like to thank Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality very much,” he said. Neriman Akbulut's daughter Çiğdem Akbulut, who attended the event with her daughter, and who has down syndrome, explained what they did at the event. Çiğdem Akbulut said, "Today, we made a robot at the event here and painting made me happy, I had a lot of fun, I love you very much." Özlem Çakır, a special individual who participated in the program, said, “Today, we painted a bird's nest and made a robot, I had a lot of fun here. He expressed his feelings by saying, "Thank you very much for inviting us here."
