ASELSAN Breaks a First in Anti-Submarine Warfare

Using the technological know-how and capabilities it has acquired so far, ASELSAN brought Turkey's first domestic and national over-the-horizon anti-submarine warfare sonar, DÜFAS, to the Blue Homeland with its completely original technology.

Developed under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) in line with the needs of the Naval Forces Command, the Low Frequency Active Sonar System (DÜFAS) enables the detection of underwater threats such as submarines and torpedoes from long distances. DÜFAS strengthens the power of our Navy in the Blue Homeland with its depth-changeable active and passive sonar capabilities and superior technology.

The First and Only Towed Active Sonar System

DÜFAS is the first and only towed active sonar system designed and produced domestically;

• It broadcasts acoustic signals through active sonar components,

• It creates an underwater tactical picture by collecting the reflections of the broadcast signal from the targets with passive sonar,

• It enables detection and tracking of underwater threats at long range and with high accuracy.

Drawing attention with its Sonar Performance Modeling Capability, DÜFAS stands out with its architecture suitable for bistatic/multi-static operation, and with its technical features, enemy submarines are no longer a threat to the Turkish Navy.

Immediate Measures Against Torpedo

In addition to detecting threats such as submarines, the system developed by ASELSAN also detects threats such as torpedoes by listening to ambient noise in passive sonar mode. DUFAS also eliminates the risk by activating countermeasure equipment when it detects a torpedo threat.
