Allegations of Cruelty to Earthquake Victims' Family Physicians!

Family physicians and family health workers also suffered material and moral losses in the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023, which caused great loss of life and property, especially in Adıyaman, Malatya, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay.

Despite losing their families, friends, spouses and children, homes and workplaces, family physicians and family health workers who tried to fulfill their professional responsibilities expected their working and living conditions to improve in the past 13 months, but it did not happen.

Chairman of the Union and Solidarity Union, Dr. Derya Mengücük said that the conditions of family physicians and family health workers, who do not disrupt health services despite all the absences and limited opportunities in the earthquake zone and still continue to work in buildings with unsuitable physical hygienic conditions, are ignored by the Ministry.

Dr. Derya Mengücük “Family physicians and family health professionals are held responsible for performance as if everything has been corrected and normal conditions have returned. Their patience is tested by repeated inspections. "It is an attitude devoid of reason and conscience that family physicians and family health workers who were affected by the earthquake are subjected to performance as if the earthquake had never occurred, without solving their working environment problems, and that their wages are deducted even though it is due to extraordinary reasons beyond their control," he criticized.

SERVICE IS PROVIDED IN FLOODED CONTAINERS

Dr. Derya Mengücük stated that what was done to the earthquake victims was a cruelty and said, "Although they should be helped and supported without forgetting that each of them is also an earthquake victim and without ignoring their psychological traumas that have been going on for months, they are being oppressed. flooded, flooded, rutubeAlthough they work in heavy, unsafe containers without providing the conditions required for healthcare services, efforts and support should be made to solve these problems, but all that was done was to cut their salaries by up to half. While they should be trying and wandering around to see how we can improve the conditions, inspections are being carried out one after the other. It is not possible to interpret this shameful situation as a humane and conscientious attitude. “This could just be bad faith.” said.

Stating that support payments to family physicians affected by the earthquake should be made from the ceiling, Mengücük stated that their demand was that population, support, incentive and current payments be made from the highest ceiling for at least 18 months and said, "The Ministry could hardly do this by fixing the last salary before the earthquake for 12 months. This also caused injustice. Considering the recent situation and environment, we reiterate our demand that these payments should be indefinite, until the old normal living and working conditions are restored, especially in these provinces where the heaviest destruction is experienced. This period depends on how long the Ministry of Health will wait for the appropriate conditions to be provided to its employees there. Even if it takes 5 or 10 years, it cannot put the entire burden on its employees. "He has to bear this victimization by taking his own responsibility," he said.

Chairman of the Union and Solidarity Union, Dr. Derya Mengücük stated that they will follow the process until a solution is found for Adıyaman, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya in terms of human, conscientious and employee rights.
