A Strong and Resilient Bursa is Being Created with Its Infrastructure

Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and People's Alliance Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş, who announced new term projects in many areas from transportation to sports, from culture to urban transformation for a more livable Bursa, said that having an uninterrupted and strong infrastructure as well as the superstructure is important in creating a resilient city.

Mayor Alinur Aktaş stated that they are the leading city in Turkey with their efforts to prevent loss and leakage of drinking water and said, “The rate of loss and illegality in the center has been reduced to 19.35 percent. BUSKİ, which is highlighted in Turkey with its exemplary work, will undertake important duties in Bursa's 'resilient city' journey in the new period. We did not leave the people of Bursa without water even for a day in 2019 and 2022, when the drought was at its peak. We continue to offer healthy drinking water to our people at affordable prices and quality despite climate change and drought conditions. "With the regulation we made in February, we made a serious contribution to our citizens by increasing the first level of water bills from 12 cubic meters to 18 cubic meters," he said.

ÇINARCIK DAM

Stating that they started the historical work that brings the water of Çınarcık Dam, which has a very important place in uninterrupted drinking water supply, to Bursa, Mayor Aktaş said, “Çınarcık drinking water project will be the 'lifeline' in meeting the water needs of the city. When the project is completed, Bursa will not have a water shortage until 2060. We started the manufacturing work by tendering. "We are realizing 300 treatment facility with a daily treatment capacity of 1 thousand cubic meters, 68 kilometers of transmission line, and 3 drinking water tanks with an investment of approximately 130 million euros, as the largest infrastructure investment in the history of Bursa," he said.

Stating that Gemlik Büyük Kumla Dam, İnegöl Hocaköy, Karacabey Gölecik, Büyükorhan Kocadere and Kestel Gölbaşı dams will be put into operation soon, Mayor Aktaş said, “With the 2 thousand 500 kilometers of new drinking water lines to be built by us, we will make Bursa resilient and have no drinking water shortage until 2060.” We turn it into a city. Although Bursa is a city with intense producing and polluting effects, we will take the wastewater management we have successfully carried out to a further level. "We will continue to keep our streams, lakes and seas clean with the capacity increases of existing wastewater treatment facilities, new wastewater treatment facilities and the new 750 kilometer sewer lines we plan," he said.

NİLÜFER TEA

Stating that they are approaching the issue of Nilüfer Stream with sensitivity, Mayor Aktaş said, “We will carry out our work to completely purify Nilüfer Stream from polluting effects, as one of our most important environmental projects, in coordination with our Ministry and Governorship. Again, with global climate change, sudden and heavy rains have become a situation we frequently encounter. We will prevent sudden and heavy rains from turning into disasters with the stream improvement works and 250 kilometers of new rainwater lines we will carry out for this purpose. "We are also rehabilitating stream sources such as Değirmenönü Church Stream, Fidyekızık Stream, Nilüfer 30 August Ürünlü Stream and Mudanya Karanya Stream," he said.

NEW WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES

Stating that they will bring new treatment facilities to Bursa in the new period, Mayor Aktaş said, “Bursa is also on its way to the top in wastewater treatment plant investments. The Metropolitan Municipality provides wastewater treatment to cover 95 percent of the city through BUSKİ. We both increase the capacity of existing facilities and bring new treatment facilities to Bursa. In this context, we will bring İnegöl, Yıldırım Vakıf, Mudanya Tirilye and Karacabey wastewater treatment facilities to the city in the new period. In addition, we will strengthen the Mustafakemalpaşa, Gemlik, Yenişehir, Akçalar, Kurşunlu, Mudanya, Küçükkumla, West and East wastewater treatment facilities. "Our districts are getting stronger in terms of facilities and infrastructure with new investments," he said.
