ÖMER GÜLSOY: THE RULES OF TRADE ARE CHANGING

Kayseri Chamber of Commerce President Ömer Gülsoy was the first to speak in the opening speeches of the conference. Stating that we live in a very rapidly changing and transforming world, Gülsoy said, “When we look at it today, we live in a world of ruthless competition where climate crisis, economic crises, wars, epidemics and income inequality are at the highest level. During this time, the rules of trade change. It forces you to make radical decisions. No old trades. The time when we waited for customers and sold goods door to door has changed. We now live in a digital world. In order to gain share, we need to benefit from the blessings of digital. We are holding our 2018th education conference since we took office in 4. Before the epidemic started, we had set a rule to focus on institutionalization, branding, going public and foreign partnerships. Whatever you buy and sell, whatever you produce, whatever you manufacture, you must be on digital platforms. You should benefit from this by either creating your own brand or under a brand. Now you can open up to the whole world with your mobile phone, where there are no borders. New markets, new customers are now on the screen of your mobile phone. "Our aim is to ensure that there is no member left who does not engage in e-commerce and e-export," he said.

THE NUMBER OF BUSINESSES ENGAGED IN ELECTRONIC COMMERCE IN TURKEY HAS REACHED THE MILLION LEVEL

WORLDEF Secretary General Sedat Ateş, who came to the podium later, said:

“The way trade is done has changed. As a method of trade, the E shape has now reached the bottom of our lives. We now observe that even a university student engages in e-commerce or cross-border trade activities with his own means. As we evolved into a new generation way of doing business, we also changed our own methods. I have no hesitation in saying that the number of businesses engaged in electronic commerce in Turkey has reached millions. The main source of information is the Electronics Department of our Ministry of Commerce. We expect our Minister to announce this number with a launch. What happened after Covid? I can say that the share of electronic commerce in retail trade in Turkey has increased. We are a G20 country. While we are still in the process of developing countries, the world electronic commerce market is expected to reach 2026 Trillion dollars between 2028 and 8. Turkey's share is 0.45, 0.49 as of this year. We are the country with the lowest share among G20 countries. Currently at 5,5 trillion, bringing it to 20 percent in G1,5 countries would mean more than 100 billion dollars entering Turkey's coffers. I reported this and forwarded it to our Central Bank President. “

DIGITALIZATION, E-COMMERCE IS A LONG JOURNEY

AKBANK SME Banking Sales Management Department Head Alper Bektaş emphasized the importance of Cross-Border E-Commerce in Kayseri and said the following.

“We are in the right city. When we look at its historical mission, we are the first city that comes to mind in Turkey when it comes to Commerce. We are in a city that has been the center of international trade for centuries. The world is changing very fast. Digitalization and e-commerce are now shortening distances. When we talk about digitalization, it seems like we are talking about a different world, in fact, we live together. The first AKBANK Branch was established in 1998. When you look at it, digitalization has a history of more than 26 years in the banking sector. Mobile banking, which everyone uses in their pockets today, came out in 2007, but even that seems like it's new. It has a history of 17 years. As the banking sector, digitalization is an area we have been working on and pondering for a very long time. In fact, it will never end. Our customers will never stop with the improvements we make. We experienced a very accelerated digitalization process after the pandemic. When we look at the last 4 years, e-commerce volume has increased 6 times. E-commerce volume in Turkey is approximately 800 billion TL. The number of customers increased 8 times. There is a very rapid geometric increase. You prefer to solve your business from your mobile phone rather than coming to branches. 83 percent of our customers use digital from their tablets, mobile phones and laptops. 17 percent do not use digital. There is a very important world in digitalization. We are making very serious investments. We all walk this path together. Technology changes very quickly. Artificial intelligence has entered the agenda. We offer some insights with artificial intelligence. We offer certain loans to increase your productivity and cash flows in terms of sustainability. The process is developing rapidly. E-commerce platforms are growing fast. Marketplaces are growing very fast. There are no longer distances. We think we should also be in e-marketplaces. “Digitalization and e-commerce are a long journey.”
