In the program held at the Selçuklu Congress Center with the slogan "One More Step for a Strong Konya", Mayor Altay stated that they have made significant investments in the last 5 years to make Konya, the capital of culture and civilization of Anatolia, much stronger in every field, and said, "As we set out on a journey , people want to know where they came from. "Especially if you are a servant of a city, you need to see what you do for that city and explain it to the people you serve," he said.
“Konya is a city that leaves a mark not only on our geography but also in our hearts. "It is a common epic that will always exist in our hearts with its past, present and future," said Mayor Altay, adding, "Konya is the name of a longing, a love and a hope. There are no words or sentences sufficient to describe our love for Konya. If a person loves a city, there is nothing he cannot do to beautify that city. He neither gets tired nor rests. It works day and night and produces services. He listens to your troubles and wants to be a cure. Our love for Konya and our love story are like this. "Building the future of this ancient city and serving wholeheartedly to the city of hearts has been my greatest happiness in this life," he said.
“UNDERTAKING THIS BIG DUTY WAS THE BIGGEST TURNING POINT OF MY LIFE”
Reminding that he started to serve the city in his youth as a person who grew up in the streets of Konya, Mayor Altay said, “I have always been involved in projects that will add value to Konya. The period when I started as Selçuklu Mayor was the first step of an important experience for me. As a result of the good services we have provided here for nearly 9 years, our President and the people of Konya deemed us worthy of the post of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. Undertaking this great task was the biggest turning point in my life. We set a goal for ourselves from the first moment we took office. This goal; Our aim was to develop Konya in every field and make it the shining star of Turkey. "Thank God, we are getting closer to this vision step by step with every work we do," he said.
“AFTER 5 YEARS, OUR KONYA HAS BECOME A CITY THAT STARTED TO SHINE NOT ONLY IN TURKEY, BUT ALSO IN THE WORLD”
Mayor Altay, from road and infrastructure works to KOSKİ investments in 5 years; He noted that they have implemented hundreds of projects in dozens of different areas, from the largest urban transformation and architectural projects in Konya's history to social and cultural services.
Noting that they always move Konya forward, thanks to the work they do all over Konya, with the principle of 'Big Investments, Strong Konya', Mayor Altay continued as follows:

We said 'We will succeed together' and we did it together. We listened to the voices of every Konya resident and developed our beautiful city together. Thank God, after 5 years, our Konya has become a city that has begun to shine not only in Turkey but also in the world. Preserving the heritage of this ancient city and ensuring that it moves forward with confident steps into the future is an invaluable happiness and experience for me and all my companions.”
1 PERCENT DISCOUNT FOR PROVINCIAL TRANSPORTATION AS OF MARCH 50
Mayor Altay then made a presentation lasting 1 hour and 20 minutes, in which he shared the great investments they have brought to the city with the 'Konya Model Municipality' approach since the day they took office and the steps they will take in the coming period. Mayor Altay, who started his presentation by giving good news about public transportation, stated that they will apply a full 1 percent discount on provincial transportation outside the center as of March 50, and said, “We will give a great support to public transportation. "May it be beneficial and auspicious for our city," he said.
“WE WILL ADD 105.7 KILOMETERS TO KONYA'S RAIL SYSTEM LINES IN THE NEW TERM”
Sharing that they are carrying out very important work to relieve traffic in Konya, Mayor Altay said, “With the rail system activities of our Metropolitan Municipality, which started in 1986, we have a tram line that has reached 26.5 kilometers in length to date. Hopefully, in this period, we will add new lines with a length of 5 kilometers within 105.7 years. We will undertake 77 kilometers of this together with our Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and 28 kilometers as Konya Metropolitan Municipality. Our total rail system line, whose tender has been made and whose consultancy is ongoing, is 1,5 times the length of our current line. We laid the foundations of some of these, just like in the suburbs. "We plan to lay the foundations of the others in April," he said.
“KONYARAY SUMMARY LINE IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT WORKS WE HAVE DONE FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN OUR CITY”
Providing information about the KONYARAY Suburban Line, which is under construction at full speed, Mayor Altay said, “One of the most important works we have done so far in terms of public transportation in our city is the Suburban Line. It was a very important task, especially for our citizens in our Organized Industrial Zone and industrial areas to use public transportation. It is one of the most costly works in the history of Konya. The first stage tender has been completed with 2 billion 787 million, and the work continues. "Hopefully, in the second stage, the 2nd Organized Industrial and Yaylapınar lines will be completed and we will bring an important public transportation network to our city," he said.
THE FOUNDATION OF BARIŞ AVENUE TRAM LINE WILL BE LAYED IN APRIL
Announcing that they will lay the foundation of the Barış Caddesi Tram Line in 2024, Mayor Altay continued his speech as follows:
“We plan to start the construction of our 16.9 kilometer long line, starting from Fırat Street and extending from Beyhekim Hospital, Barış Street to Kent Plaza, this year. Again, one of our important works is the Courthouse-City Hospital-New Industrial Site Line. This is one of the most anticipated lines. Because with the construction of the City Hospital and the relocation of Eski Sanayi and Karatay Sanayi, there has been a tremendous density in this region. Hopefully, we plan to break ground here in April this year. First, starting the connection between the City Hospital and the Courthouse via the City Hospital Underpass; Afterwards, we, as the Metropolitan Municipality, will implement the first phase from Aslım Street to our New Industrial Site. The process of this work is about to be completed at a cost of approximately 1.5 billion lira. "We will make a more detailed statement with our Minister of Transport about the rail system lines we have mentioned before and explain how Konya will add 5 kilometers of rail system lines to our city in the next 105 years."
NEIGHBORHOOD ROAD FROM KONYA TO BAKU
Reminding that Konya is a very large geography and emphasizing that they have brought neighborhood roads to the districts in such a large geography, Mayor Altay said, “We have brought 5 thousand kilometers of neighborhood roads to our city in 2 years. When you think of 2 thousand kilometers, it may not occur in your mind. We built a road from Konya to Baku. We built neighborhood roads in all 4 districts with the understanding of 'Konya Model Municipality' at a total cost of 172 billion 31 million. Again, 31 kilometers long, 950 million 1 thousand tons of hot asphalt work in all 625 districts at a cost of 2 billion 924 million; "In addition, we have brought 6 million 505 thousand square meters of parquet to our city in all our districts at a cost of 1 billion 171 million."
MAYOR ALTAY MENTIONED HIS REVIVAL AND RESTORATION PROJECTS
Mayor Altay, implemented within the scope of the Darü'l-Mülk Project, one of Turkey's largest revival projects; Mevlana Bazaar and Gold Bazaar, Stone Building, Tekel Warehouse-Warehouse No: 4, Aladdin Street Facade Renovation, Darü'l-Mülk Exhibition Palace, Alaaddin Hill Excavation Area, Meydan Houses, Büyük Larende Transformation have been completed and continue in the center and districts. He talked about the revival, renovation and restoration works.
SARAÇOĞLU AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION AND R&D CAMPUS
Emphasizing that they have moved to a new stage in agriculture, Mayor Altay said, “Our Saraçoğlu Agricultural Production and R&D Campus will be realized together with our Karatay Municipality. In this sense, we are realizing one of the most important facilities in Turkey with an area of 14 million square meters. Here, we plan to establish facilities specifically for the increase of small ruminants in our province, as well as testing and production of drought-resistant plants and a farmer training center. "As the President of the International Agricultural Cities Association, we will hopefully be able to implement this facility in the coming period, which will be a new function for training our guests from abroad and, most importantly, for the sale of agricultural equipment produced in Konya," he said.
OVER 28 BILLION INVESTMENTS WERE PROVIDED TO 25 DISTRICTS
Explaining the investments made so far in 28 districts outside the center numerically, Mayor Altay continued as follows:
“275 million to Ahırlı, 426 million to Akören, 2 billion to Akşehir, 650 million to Altınekin, 1.6 billion to Beyşehir, 1 billion to Bozkır, 422 million to Çeltik, 1.2 billion to Cihanbeyli, Çumra 1.5 billion to Derbent, 370 million to Derebucak, 530 million to Doğanhisar, 597 million to Emirgazi, 330 billion to Ereğli, 2.5 million to Güneyşığı, 430 million to Hadim, Halkapınar 686 million, 251 million for Hüyük, 805 billion for Ilgın, 1.7 billion for Kadınhanı, 1.3 billion for Karapınar, 1.5 billion for Kulu, 1.4 million for Sarayönü, 947 billion for Seydişehir, 1.4 million for Taşkent. “The total investment amount we made in all of our 417 districts was 220 billion 150 million lira, including 835 million lira for Tuzlukçu, 28 million lira for Yalıhüyük, and 25 million lira for Yunak.”
5 BILLION 52 MILLION LIRA INVESTMENTS WERE MADE IN THE LAST 842 YEARS
Mayor Altay, especially the World Union of Municipalities Presidency and the studies carried out internationally; He also gave information about international organizations held in Konya, youth, sports, education, agricultural support, social support projects, KOSKİ investments, smart city applications, environmental investments, expropriation and urban transformation works and ongoing major investments. Continuing his speech by expressing the costs of all municipal services implemented in 5 districts in the last 31 years, Mayor Altay said, "18 billion liras for construction, zoning and urban transformation works, 3 billion 620 million liras for expropriation and development projects, new streets, neighborhood roads, paving stones." 9 billion 169 million lira for hot asphalt, 10 billion 327 million lira through our KOSKİ General Directorate, 3 billion 566 million lira for youth, sports and education activities, 1 billion 922 million lira for our park-garden services and environmental protection and control, new buses. We invested 1 billion 300 million liras for social support, 2 billion 364 million liras for social supports, 952 million liras for combating climate change, 492 million for agricultural supports, 680 million liras for strengthening our fire brigade, and 450 million liras for strengthening smart city applications. "Thus, in the last 5 years, we have brought 52 billion 842 million liras of investment to our city with the current value," he said.
170 PROJECTS WERE PROMISED, 348 PROJECTS WERE IMPLEMENTED
Underlining that they promised 5 projects in total to the people of Konya at the launch of My City 170 years ago and that they have implemented 348 projects at this point today, Mayor Altay made the following evaluation:
“This is the Konya Model Municipality. This is why municipality has become a brand in Konya. What we promised and what we did not promise are the things we implemented. No matter what we do, even if we have completed thousands, tens of thousands of projects, we cannot repay the support given to us by the people of Konya. This city deserves the best of everything. Hopefully, in order to beautify our city, we will continue to listen to the voices of every citizen living in Konya and develop projects according to their needs and expectations. With our understanding of 'Konya Model Municipality', we will make Konya an exemplary municipal school for the world. We will act with the mission of a more livable world, peace for all, justice for all and prosperity for all. We will strive for peace in Palestinian lands and all oppressed geographies. We will continue our deep-rooted understanding of service for strong Konya by receiving the support and prayers of our fellow citizens. We will build the Konya of tomorrow for Konya's future. Konya suits the best of everything. We will try to build the best and most beautiful one for you. It is time to take our service journey forward by saying 'Now one more step for strong Konya'.
