1,2 Billion KWh Electricity Consumption Turned 'Green' with Ck Energy

Demand for renewable energy; It is growing rapidly worldwide due to concerns about climate change, energy security, and the need for clean and sustainable energy. Aiming to contribute to a sustainable future, CK Enerji has been offering certification services for its transition to "green energy" to industrial and commercial customers who want to supply environmentally friendly electricity since 2021.

CK Enerji, which mediates its customers in obtaining the International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC), which certifies that the electricity consumed is produced from renewable energy sources, ensured that 2021 billion 2023 million kWh of electricity was sourced from green energy from March 1 to the end of 230. Thanks to CK Energy, which mediated a total of 323 companies in obtaining I-REC, electricity equivalent to the annual consumption of approximately 500 thousand houses was met from renewable energy sources.

CK Energy, 1 billion 230 million kWh of electricity; It documented that 91 million kWh was from solar, 460 million kWh from geothermal, 380 million kWh from hydroelectric, 18 million kWh from wind and 280 million kWh from biomass.

A CERTIFICATE IS CREATED FOR EVERY 1 MWH OF ELECTRICITY PRODUCED

In the statement made by CK Enerji, it was pointed out that renewable energy certificates are a system frequently used to popularize renewable energy investments and consumption, and said, "Thanks to this system, which enables each unit of electricity produced to be tracked, starting from its source, and traceable to the final consumer, consumers have a conscious and reliable contributes to making a choice. I-REC is one of the widely used international certification systems that certify that electricity is produced from renewable energy sources. In this system, issued and inspected by the IREC Foundation, an international independent organization, a certificate is created for every 1 MWh of electricity produced in renewable energy facilities (solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass). Authorized energy companies also support their customers who request this certificate to meet their electrical energy from renewable energy sources. As one of these companies, CK Enerji, we support sustainability policies by undertaking I-REC certification processes on behalf of our customers.”

INCREASES THE VALUE OF BRANDS

The statement noted that renewable energy certificates, which encourage the use of nature-friendly energy, provide many advantages to users, and included the following statements:

“The use of renewable energy, which contributes to reducing carbon emissions against global warming that threatens the future of the world today, also increases the value of brands. I-REC facilitates trade between consumers, electricity suppliers, electricity producers and national governments, while also contributing to the sustainability goals of electricity consumers. Certifying that products are produced with green energy in trade can create opportunities in export channels. Again, in the tourism sector, visitors' interest in facilities that prefer green energy in electricity consumption offers an added advantage to companies. Export-oriented companies in the industrial sector also prefer IREC certification to reduce their carbon emissions. "In addition, Turkey will have the potential to benefit primarily from the incentives and supports to be implemented in the medium term on its way to achieving its 2053 net zero emission target."

BENEFITS OF RENEWABLE ENERGY CERTIFICATE

In the statement made by CK Energy, the benefits of the certificate to companies were summarized as follows:

It transparently proves that renewable energy is used. It provides exemption from carbon emission taxes applied to products exported abroad. It supports local investors who produce electricity from renewable energy sources. It helps reduce carbon footprint and can be used in carbon footprint reporting. Companies that receive green energy certificates can apply for banks' green funds and can more easily receive loans with green energy as a prerequisite. Provides support for global climate crisis activities and solutions.
