The 2023 winners of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Special Awards, which reward those who contribute to Turkey's cultural heritage and art world, have been announced.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced the names deemed worthy of the award with a post on his social media accounts.

This year's winners of the awards, which have been presented regularly by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for 44 years, are 'Association for the Survival and Development of Anatolian Handicrafts (Anelsander)', 'İbrahim Alimoğlu Music Museum' and 'Sadberk Hanım Museum'.

Minister Ersoy noted the following in his post:

Ministry Rewards Pioneering Works

The awards, which are given to appreciate and encourage the work done by institutions that successfully represent culture and arts in Turkey both nationally and internationally, were determined by jury evaluation this year as well.

In addition to the activities of the 'Association for the Survival and Development of Anatolian Handicrafts (Anelsander)', which stands out with its pioneering and qualified work in the field of traditional handicrafts throughout the country through living masters, it has also been accredited to the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage and increased Turkey's achievements in this field. Therefore, he was deemed worthy of the award.

İbrahim Alimoğlu Music Museum, which is Turkey's first and largest in its field and is among the top 10 in the world and Europe, was another winner of the awards with its personal efforts and initiatives in the field of culture and art in Turkey.

Sadberk Hanım Museum, on the other hand, was awarded for being Turkey's first private museum and setting a successful example of contemporary museology practices with its restoration and conservation workshop, as well as its rich collection that is carefully preserved over a wide area.

The Ministry's Most Prestigious Award

The awards, which have been given every year since 1979 as the most prestigious and highest value award of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, have been presented under the name 'Ministry of Culture and Tourism Special Awards' since 2016.

The Ministry gives awards in the fields of Turkish history, literature, language, plastic arts, architecture, archaeology, music and performing arts, folklore, theatre, opera and ballet, art history, photography, cinema, librarianship and museology.
