Bursa's Pool Park is considered as one of the cultural memories of the city, beyond being just a sports facility. This symbolic park, which was brought to Bursa in 1935, remained idle for a long time and became unusable due to neglect. However, with a project carried out by the Metropolitan Municipality, Pool Park is being brought back to life as a modern facility.
The project is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The area of 30 thousand square meters, where Havuzlu Park is located, is being completely renovated and modernized. It is aimed that the new structure will be at a level that can host international competitions. The construction area of the project is 8.500 square meters and it is designed as two blocks. In the main block, there will be administrative units, information, waiting-exhibition and foyer area, administrative units where sports activities will be carried out, seminar room, parking lot, restaurant and service units. The other block is named as the sports block and there will be changing rooms, showers, Turkish bath and hot water pools on the lower floor. On the pool floor, there will be a full olympic outdoor swimming pool and a semi olympic outdoor swimming pool in accordance with FINA standards. Under the outdoor pools, there will be a gym, offices, a multi-purpose hall and a cafeteria.
Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş emphasized that Pool Park is not only a sports facility, but also holds an important place in the memories of Bursa residents. He stated that in line with Bursa's goal of becoming an important brand in the field of sports, they also support amateur sports clubs as well as adding new facilities to the city. Mayor Aktaş stated that the Pool Park is an important value of the city and a modern project has been prepared for the restoration of this facility. With the completion of the construction works initiated with the support of the Ministry, it is hoped that Havuzlu Park will regain its active days. Thus, Bursa residents will be able to use this historical and important place again to cool off and do sports in the summer months.
