Who is Nurhan Damcioglu?

Nurhan Damcıoğlu, (born May 1, 1941 – Died June 5, 2023), Turkish canto player, sound artist, theater and film actor. He was born in a family of 9 children. His father owned an open-air cinema. His mother was a tailor in state operas. With the initiative of his mother, he started the children's department of the General Directorate of State Theaters at the age of 9, and thus he received theater education at a very young age. She took ballet lessons. He worked at the Radio Kids Club for nine years. From the age of 16, he played in the State Theatre. Meanwhile, he graduated from Ankara Cebeci Secondary School. He came to Istanbul in 1965 with the guidance of Cüneyt Gökçer. He worked with Istanbul Theatre, Ayfer Feray Theatre, Gülriz Sururi-Engin Cezzar Theatre, Muammer Karaca Theatre, Mücap Ofluoğlu Ensemble. He first heard Kanto from Toto Karaca. With the encouragement of Mücap Ofluoğlu, he sang in the canto style for the first time in 1969. He then left the theater completely and devoted himself entirely to the canto. Thus, she became Turkey's first female Muslim canto player.

After that, he started performing at Maksim Casino. Here he had the opportunity to work with names such as Zeki Müren, Sevim Tuna and Behiye Aksoy.
