Türk Telekom CEO Ümit Önal made a statement within the scope of the 10-16 May World Disability Week: “We continue to offer technological solutions so that disabled people can access information on equal terms, from education to art, and we continue to work that transforms technology into benefits in every aspect of life. We add value to Turkey with our projects that remove obstacles in line with our vision that puts people in our focus.”

Türk Telekom continues to be a light for children with low vision by ensuring that they receive education in the same classrooms as their peers, with the 'Günışığı' project. The TahtApp application, developed by Türk Telekom R&D team, is now available in 11 new schools in 24 provinces.

Türk Telekom offers an accessible experience for everyone at the Atatürk Cultural Center, of which it is the main supporter and transfers its high-tech knowledge to the field of culture and art with 'Voice Steps'. Sesli Steps application allows the visually and hearing impaired to move around without assistance, thus contributing to their greater involvement in social life.

Türk Telekom's social responsibility project 'Telephone Library' enables visually impaired people to access audiobooks and world-famous descriptive paintings, and its Medicine Barcode Reading and Money Recognition functions facilitate the daily lives of the disabled.

Türk Telekom mobilizes the opportunities offered by technology to ensure equality of opportunity at all levels of society. The Günışığı Project, implemented by Türk Telekom with the Association for Living Without Disabilities (EyDer), for children with low vision, focuses on technologies that make it easier for children with low vision to study at schools and in the same classrooms with their peers in the 2023-2024 academic year. In this context, Türk Telekom plans to install 'TahtApp', an innovative solution developed for classroom education of children with low vision, in 11 more schools in 24 provinces.

Because, if everyone can benefit from the possibilities of the technology we offer, our solutions and services gain meaning. With the awareness of this, we determine our route in cooperation with non-governmental organizations in order to ensure the equal participation of disabled people in life, and we produce projects within this scope. One of these projects is TahtApp software developed by our R&D team. We will launch TahtApp, which allows children with low vision to continue their education life with their peers in the classroom, in more schools in the new academic year. In addition, awareness trainings will be given to students and parents in schools. As Türk Telekom, we are proud of contributing to the participation of our disabled citizens in social life with these projects that we have developed with our superior technology. Our corporate social responsibility projects, which we continue to add value to Turkey, will continue with an increasing motivation and sense of responsibility”.

Visually and hearing-impaired people can spend time freely in AKM.

Aiming to transform technology into goodness and benefit with its corporate social responsibility projects, Türk Telekom launched the corporate social responsibility project 'Voice Steps' application at AKM, of which it is the main supporter. Voice Steps application, which is used by the visually and hearing impaired; It provides voice guidance to all entrances of AKM, cinema, library, exhibition hall, restaurants, cafes and Türk Telekom Opera Hall. Disabled art lovers, who download the 'Voice Steps' application to their mobile devices, experience an accessible culture and art experience in the indoor and outdoor spaces of AKM, accompanied by the application.

With TahtAAp, the physical conditions of the children in the lessons will be improved.

The TahtApp application will be installed and put into use in 24 new schools included in the project as of the next education term. TahtApp enables children with low vision to receive education together with their peers without disabilities by transferring the board to the tablet. The TahtApp application, which provides standardization in course follow-up, also allows students to follow the lessons, answer questions more easily, and participate more actively in the lessons at the same pace as their other friends.

Innovative projects that remove barriers from Türk Telekom

Türk Telekom enriches its innovative projects and applications day by day. With Türk Telekom's social responsibility project 'Telephone Library', users can easily access more than 50 audiobooks in 3 categories and 50 world-famous audio-descriptive paintings via their mobile phones. Besides; The 'Phone Library' also facilitates the life of the disabled with the functions of Reading Barcodes and Recognizing Money, which it offers free of charge. Türk Telekom, which also contributes to accessible art, offers the Sesli Steps application, an independent navigation service for the visually and hearing impaired, to the use of art lovers at AKM, of which it is the main supporter.
