According to official data, a steady increase in passenger and goods traffic was recorded in China in the first quarter of 2023. Public passenger traffic significantly revived in the three-month period from January to March. In this context, Su Jie, one of the officials of the Ministry of Transport, announced at a press conference that the number of people traveling in cities has increased to 20,9 billion. Su reported that more and more cars are being seen on the streets and passenger traffic is increasing markedly.

Facility investments in the transportation sector increased by 13,3 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 720,5 billion yuan (approximately $104,11 billion).

It is stated that the volume of cargo transported reached 11,87 billion tons in the said period, which represents a five percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. It is announced that the freight transfer volume at the ports increased by 6,2 percent on a yearly basis and reached 3,85 billion tons.
