Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of passengers hosted at the airports in the January-April period increased by 32.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 54 million 679 thousand. Karaismailoğlu, in his written statement, noted that in April, aircraft traffic increased by 9 percent to 66 thousand 415 in domestic flights, and to 25 thousand 59 with an increase of 661 percent in international flights. Karaismailoğlu stated that the total aircraft traffic increased by 17.4 percent with the overpasses and reached 163 thousand 804, “Domestic passenger traffic at our airports has reached 7 million 61 thousand, international passenger traffic has reached 8 million 595 thousand. Thus, we served a total of 15 million 696 thousand passengers, including direct transit passengers, in the month in question. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the total passenger traffic, including direct transit, increased by 31 percent, with 37.2 percent on domestic lines and 34.2 percent on international lines," he said.
WE SERVED APPROXIMATELY 6 MILLION PASSENGERS AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT IN APRIL
Expressing that a total of 40 thousand 734 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Airport in April, a total of 5 million 985 thousand passengers were hosted, Karaismailoğlu stated that the total air traffic at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport was 17 thousand 877 and 2 million 763 thousand passengers were served.
AIRCRAFT TRAFFIC INCREASED 25.7 PERCENT IN JANUARY-APRIL
Pointing out that in the January-April period, the air traffic increased by 20.5 percent in domestic flights to 259 thousand 725, and in international lines increased by 30 percent to 200 thousand 144, Karaismailoğlu noted that with the upper passes, the total air traffic increased by 25.7 percent and reached 600 thousand 354. Pointing out that 25 million 816 thousand passengers were served on domestic lines and 28 million 788 thousand passengers on international lines, Minister Karaismailoğlu announced that a total of 54 million 679 thousand passengers were hosted, including direct transit passengers. Karaismailoğlu said, “In the 4-month period, there was an increase of 21.4 percent in domestic passenger traffic, 44.6 percent in international passenger traffic and 32.4 percent in total passenger traffic, including direct transit. In the same period, freight traffic reached a total of 241 million 628 thousand tons, including 880 thousand 638 tons on domestic lines and 1 thousand 122 tons on international lines.
Karaismailoğlu stated that January-April 154 thousand 579 aircraft traffic took place at Istanbul Airport, and that a total of 22 million 515 thousand passengers were served. Karaismailoğlu said, “While a total of 68 thousand 466 aircraft traffic was realized in Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport in the four-month period, we served 10 million 685 thousand passengers”.
