The Mother is an action movie directed by Niki Caro from a screenplay co-written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff and Peter Craig. You may know Caro from her work on the 2020 live-action movie Mulan. Berloff is best known for co-authoring the biographical drama Straight Outta Compton. Green was the showrunner of HBO's Lovecraft Country, and Craig co-wrote the 2022 superhero movie The Batman.
Vertigo Entertainment and Niyorican Productions produced the film. Niyorican Productions is a production company co-founded by Lopez and Benny Medina.

Initially, Netflix announced that the movie would arrive in May 2023, and we had hoped the publisher would make a screening in early May. Looks like we have a mid-May release. On April 11, a month before the new movie's Mother's Day weekend release, Netflix released the explosive and captivating full trailer for the movie. Lopez shared the official trailer directly with her fans, who will definitely watch it on May 12, on her social media accounts.
The trailer offers viewers comprehensive information on what to expect from the action drama, which looks like a non-stop thrill ride. Lopez plays a mother tasked with doing whatever it takes to protect the daughter she had to leave behind as a child. While J.Lo has been known for her romantic comedies lately, the trailer shows the actress returning to her action roots, just like in the movie Enough.
