Waste collectors life transforming

The project not only recycles waste, but also transforms the lives of citizens who have to collect waste from the street.

Waste collection and sorting employees, who started to work at IzTransformation, now work in more hygienic conditions with a fixed salary and insurance, without having to rummage through the garbage cans.

The number of street collectors recruited under the project continues to increase. In addition to approximately 50 waste collection and sorting personnel working at the İzTransformation facility, 30 people work within the scope of the project through cooperatives. The total number of recycling workers will soon rise to one hundred.

The project will expand Izmir's circular economy

Within the scope of the IzTransformation project, wastes are collected from IzConversion boxes on the streets and from containers placed in densely populated areas such as shopping malls, factories and hospitals. Waste collected by trucks and electric motorcycles is brought to the packaging waste collection and sorting center in Konak.

Wastes that are separated according to their types at the facility are included in the recycling ring. In this way, both wastes are prevented from polluting nature and gains are made from wastes.
