China's First Quarter Retail Sales Passed 11 Trillion Yuan

Retail sales in China increased by 5,8 percent in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period of the previous year. Retail sales rose 10,6 percent year-on-year in March, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. The rate of increase in retail sales in urban areas was 10,7 percent. The numerical size of this increase is 478 billion dollars. The increase in rural areas was 10 percent.

Retail sales of consumer goods in China totaled approximately 11,49 trillion yuan in the first quarter, according to the bureau's data. Online retail sales in the first quarter amounted to approximately 8,6 trillion yuan, up 3,29 percent year on year.

China National Bureau of Statistics SözcüSu Fu Linghui said that since the beginning of this year, the recovery in service consumption, the steady increase in sales and the increase in the online consumption trend were effective in the growth. Fu said the country will continue to take facilitating measures to increase personal income, actively ensure high-quality supplies, and effectively combine increased consumption with supply-side structural reforms.
