A Bitter Farewell to Teachers Who Lost Their Lives in the Landslide in Adana

Teachers Dilek Altıparmak, Ümmühan Dilbirin, Rahime Topak and Pınar Kılıç were buried in their hometown of Adana today.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer also attended the funeral of Dilek Altıparmak and Ümmühan Dilbirin, who were classroom teachers, in Kozan. Adana Governor Süleyman Elban, Personnel General Manager Fehmi Rasim Çelik, Private Education Institutions General Manager Mustafa Gelen and Higher Education and Foreign Education General Manager Murat Süt were also present at the ceremony.

Expressing that they came to Adana to do their last duty to the teachers Dilek, Ümmühan, Pınar and Rahime, Minister Özer said, “I wish mercy from Allah. There isn't much to say. My condolences to the deceased family and colleagues. I wish patience to his relatives. Indeed, our teachers are not just people who give education in this society. At the same time, they are people who come to their aid in every way possible in the extraordinary circumstances of the society. We have seen this in the days of the Kovid-19 outbreak. We saw it after the February 6 earthquake. Indeed, our teachers are the most self-sacrificing people of this society. We are in the sadness of losing such beautiful four devoted people. I offer my condolences to all our national education community and wish them patience.” said.

Class teacher Pınar Kılıç; He was buried in Sarıçam Buruk Cemetery with a ceremony attended by his family, relatives and Deputy Minister Sadri Şensoy.

Social Studies teacher Rahime Topak was sent off on her last journey with a ceremony held in Kozan Yüksekören district. Cevdet Vural, General Manager of Teacher Training and Development, attended the funeral.

After the funeral ceremonies, Minister Özer paid a condolence visit to Rahime Topak's family.
