IMM President and Nation Alliance's Vice President candidate Ekrem İmamoğluattended the official ceremony held at the Taksim Republic Monument on the 23rd Anniversary of the 103rd April National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Saying, “I wish a stronger, more enthusiastic and more tangible holiday with the participation of people from all levels of our state,” İmamoğlu said, “I wish a Turkey where none of our children exist in inequality, but in total equality. It is not that any of our children are raised differently from each other, on the contrary, I wish for a country that gives every opportunity to each of our children in this country, just like the opportunity given to us by the Republic.”
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and Nation Alliance's Vice President candidate Ekrem İmamoğluattended the official ceremony held at the Taksim Republic Monument on the 23rd Anniversary of the 103rd April National Sovereignty and Children's Day. The official part of the ceremony ended with the laying of a wreath, a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem by the Provincial Director of National Education, Levent Yazıcı. After the end of the official ceremony, İmamoğlu left the İBB wreath, which was brought with the police squad, to the Republic Monument. After İmamoğlu, wreaths of political parties and non-governmental organizations took their place around the monument. Meyra Mendi, 7th student of Martyr Anıl Kaan Aybek Secondary School, also recited M. Necati Öngay's poem “The Taste of Sovereignty” at the ceremony.
“I WISH EVERY CHILD A COUNTRY THAT GIVES EVERY OPPORTUNITY IN THE COUNTRY”
İmamoğlu also made his 23 April evaluation in front of the Republic Monument. Saying "Happy April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day", İmamoğlu said:
“Of course, I wish that it will be a festival in which people from all levels of our state participate in a stronger, more enthusiastic and more palpable way. Of course, it is the only holiday in the world that has been given to children as a gift. But we also have a great responsibility. Because we celebrate this holiday on the establishment day of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, where national sovereignty is registered. In fact, in whatever office you are in, we are in those offices because of that 'Sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation' understanding that the registration of this holiday is included. That's why I really want and wish to celebrate the criteria in these holidays, not such division and fragmentation, but a holistic celebration and integration with the people. On behalf of the children, I wish education in the best way possible. I wish for a Turkey where none of our children exist in inequality, but in total equality. It is not that any of our children are raised differently from each other, on the contrary, I wish for a country that gives every opportunity to our children in this country, just as the Republic gave us. Happy holiday to our children.”
Having photographed memories with the children and their parents in the area, İmamoğlu also participated in the 23 April celebration program organized by the Istanbul Governor's Office at the Taksim Atatürk Cultural Center Theater Hall.
