It has been announced that the 13th Beijing International Film Festival will be held from April 22-29.

At a press conference held today, the vice president of the festival, Yu Junsheng, said that the main theme is "Cinema sharing, mutual appreciation of civilizations" and that it is aimed to stimulate the global film market, to advance communication and mutual learning between civilizations, and to contribute to the unity of humanity's destiny for Chinese cinema.

The festival will host a wealth of events in 9 different areas, including the Tiantan Awards competition, the opening ceremony, and Beijing film screenings. In addition, the “online film festival” event will be repeated this year.

93 films from 488 countries and regions were submitted to the Tiantan Awards. Chinese director Zhang Yimou will preside over the jury.

15 films, including the German-Argentine co-production “Adios Buenos Aires”, the Chinese director Song Xingqi's “Ciao” ​​and the French director Christian Carion's “Driving Madeleine”, were nominated for the Tiantan Awards.
