MEB AKUB Teams Mobilized to Get Out of the Wrecks Alive

After the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and affected many provinces in the region, the Ministry of National Education Search and Rescue Unit (MEB AKUB) teams of approximately 10 thousand people, which were scattered in 5 provinces, mobilized to get them alive from the rubble.

In 10 provinces affected by the earthquake, approximately 5 thousand Ministry personnel, who are members of MEB AKUB, consisting of specially trained teachers and other employees, are on the field.

MEB AKUB teams continue their search and rescue activities in the wreckage. MEB AKUB teams, working in coordination with AFAD and other search and rescue teams, pulled Zişan Kaya, a university student in Kahramanmaraş, a mother and her child alive from the rubble at the 101st hour of the earthquake, as a result of long efforts.

MEB AKUB teams also work in all areas needed, such as setting up tents, evacuating, storing, distributing and cooking and distributing aid sent to the earthquake zone.

The monitoring of the movement status and locations of 10 teams working in 225 provinces, the elimination of the province/district team shortage according to the demands received by the disaster and emergency management center in the earthquake region, the need for materials, the follow-up of the notifications that require operation in the wreckage area and their referral to the region are carried on without interruption.

Noting that every living thing that comes out of the rubble is very important, the MEB AKUB teams rescued a dog and its two puppies, which were under the rubble in the central Bağlar district of Diyarbakır, alive after 124 hours.
