Izmir Metropolitan Municipality offers shelter, food, aid and health services as well as social and psychological support in the tent city, the first of which was established in Hatay and where more than a thousand earthquake victims stayed. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which started the "Psychosocial Support Network" project so that earthquake victims can overcome the trauma process more easily, reaches earthquake victims through psychologists and sociologists working in the tent city. In the tent city, where the Fairy Tale House for Children started to serve, the staff of the KEY Women's Studies Holistic Service Center also carry out studies for women.
Soyer: “We will open a Fairy Tale House in all coordination centers”
Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, visited the Fairy Tale House in the tent city of Antakya and said, “We have brought the Fairy Tale Houses, which we have expanded in İzmir, to support the social development of children and to equip mothers with professional skills. Apart from Hatay, we will also open a Fairy Tale House in the coordination centers that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will put into service in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş and Osmaniye. KEY Women's Studies Holistic Service Center, which we have established in Izmir to increase women's participation in social life, also supports women here. We will continue to support earthquake victims, especially children and women, in every way. We are here, we will always be with them.”

Emphasizing that they started to work on the psychosocial process from the first day of the earthquake, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Social Projects Department Head Anıl Kaçar said, “We also delivered the 'Psychosocial Support Network' that we created in İzmir directly to the earthquake points. We visit all the tents in the area and conduct a field scan. We are doing this work primarily to ensure that women and children get through the process easily.” Anıl Kaçar, who said that the works are carried out in the same way as in the Fairy Tale House in İzmir, said, “We are on the field in the earthquake zone with our experts. We contribute to the cognitive and spiritual world of our children. With Fairy Tale Houses, we can put a smile on the faces of our children who were injured in the earthquake. Here, children both learn new information and play and have fun.”
They need to feel that they are not alone
Former model Tuğba Özay, who continues her support work for earthquake victims in Hatay, also visited Fairy Tale House and KEY Women's Studies Holistic Service Center. Özay said, “Get well soon to our country. We've lost so much. It's a very difficult process. We will overcome this process with the spirit of unity and solidarity. Our President Tunç SoyerI appreciate and congratulate him and his team. Fieldwork was done very quickly. The traumas experienced by children and their families are very severe and we can only alleviate such traumas with psychological support. Our children are painting. I ask 'What did you draw?' he says 'I drew an earthquake resistant house'. These places should not be forgotten. I've been here for 10 days. There is almost no place I haven't gone to in Hatay, this place is not like an earthquake area, it is as scary as a war area. Let's not forget these areas. May our support continue. Overcoming these traumas is possible with morale and motivation. It has become an area worthy of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. These are very important works. “These people should feel that they are not alone.”
