Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they created a student capacity of 10 million 71 thousand in 1 provinces for high school students in 279 provinces. Minister of National Education Özer gave information about the earthquake region and education processes after the earthquake disaster. Özer reminded that schools in all education levels from pre-school to high school will be opened on February 10 in 71 provinces apart from 20 provinces that are earthquake zones, and that attendance will not be required for all classes and levels in the second term in 10 provinces.

Stating that accommodation areas such as tent centers, dormitories and container centers are included in the scope of transported education, Minister Özer said, “We will transport the students here to their schools free of charge and back to the accommodation areas. Families in 10 provinces will be able to transfer their children to schools in other provinces if they wish. We do not have a capacity problem in primary and secondary schools. We have 10 million 1 thousand students in high schools in 29 provinces. For these students, we created a student capacity of 71 million 1 thousand in 279 provinces. In this context, 3 thousand 681 students have been transferred to other provinces so far.” made the statement.

In his statement, Özer reiterated that private education institutions have increased the requirement for full scholarship students from 3 percent to 10 percent, “The new 7 percent capacity thus created will be used for students in 10 provinces. For this purpose, a capacity of 25 thousand 133 students was created in our private education institutions. So far, 828 students have benefited from this right.” shared his knowledge.

Emphasizing that 10 of 20 buildings under the Ministry were destroyed in 868 provinces where earthquakes were experienced, Özer said: “Damage assessment work for all other buildings will be completed by the end of February. For this reason, we suspended education in 24 provinces until 10 March. Education in 1 provinces after March 1 is not province-based; Just as we did in the pandemic, a district and school-based transition will be made. We will immediately start education in districts and regions whose problems are resolved. We will also actively use the dual education option in these regions. So far, we have set up 10 psychosocial support, play and activity tents for children in all tent zones and gathering places in 10 provinces. In these tents, our pre-school teachers, guidance teachers and psychological counselors started to serve.”

Özer reminded that the second semester subjects in the central exam within the scope of the High School Entrance System (LGS) and the second semester subjects of the 12th grade in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) will not be included in the exam.
