Social Democracy Foundation (SODEV) rewarded the efforts of municipalities across Turkey to ensure gender equality. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Department of Women's and Family Services in the "Best Practice Presented in the Field of Combating Violence Against Women (VW)", one of 389 categories, in the "Gender Equalitarian Transformation Awards" program, organized in cooperation with Sweden-based Olof Palme International Center and 13 project applications were made. The Bus Station Counseling Center Project was deemed worthy of an award.
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Women and Family Services Department Head Şerife Hasoğlu Dokucu received the award at the ceremony held in Istanbul Küçükçekmece.
In the ceremony; Based on the relationship between gender equality and freedom in the urban services of social democratic municipalities in Turkey, the best practices presented to raise and protect women's social status, to help meet their needs and to support women's empowerment in all areas of society were evaluated according to their categories.
