Stating that the most associated neurological diseases with weather conditions are headaches, Neurology Specialist Dr. Celal Şalçini said that mainly migraine, cluster headache and more rarely other headaches are also related to weather changes.

Dr. Celal Şalçini emphasized that migraine is affected by short-term weather changes.

Stating that cluster headache is affected by seasonal changes, migraine is mostly affected by short-term weather changes. Celal Şalçini said, “These weather changes can be various. All types of wind, mainly southeastern, can trigger migraine attacks, such as changes in air humidity, sudden changes in air pressure, sun, glare, extreme cold and heat. warned.

Stating that these triggers vary, as is not the case in all migraine patients, Neurology Specialist Dr. Celal Şalçini said, “Some migraine patients may experience attacks in dry air, while others may experience attacks in humid weather. It is difficult to discern which of these changes triggers an attack in the patient, because apart from weather changes, foods, different smells and drinks can also trigger.” said.

Dr. Celal Şalçini said that factors can be determined by keeping a diary.

Advising patients to keep a diary to identify the factors affecting migraine, Dr. Celal Şalçini said, “Migraine patients should take note of what they ate that day, what the weather was like, what perfume they used. Thus, it can be determined which factor is affected by migraine attacks. These factors are difficult to spot. For this reason, we can only realize it as a result of meticulous follow-up.” said.

Dr. Celal Şalçini added that it is necessary to avoid and take physical precautions in order to prevent attacks that will be triggered by the southwest and stormy weather.
