EGO General Directorate continues to organize drills in order to ensure passenger safety in public transportation vehicles used by thousands of Başkent residents every day and to intervene consciously in possible accidents.

A "derayman drill" was organized by the Ankara Metro Operations Branch Directorate at the Metro Operation Macunköy Operation and Maintenance Center. The train wagon, which was derailed as per the scenario, was quickly and reliably put back on the rails by the derayman teams.

Breathtaking exercise with tons of train wagons

In the exercise, a team of experts, who intervened the wagon weighing tons with the control desk and equipment, applied the rerailing process (safe re-railing) in a professional manner.

EGO Deputy General Manager Emin Güre said that they continue to work to ensure that citizens using public transportation in the capital travel uninterruptedly and reliably:

“The safety of our passengers and uninterrupted service are paramount… The incident we call Derayman, defined as the slippage of at least one wheel of the train, happened, and then we organized an exercise to put it back on track. Our colleagues prepared well and successfully carried out this exercise. We put our derayman train on the rail and made it ready for service. We thank our colleagues, they work with great devotion. They add their nights and days to serve the people of Ankara.”

Train tracks in Metro and Ankaray are under control

Stating that they routinely take many safety measures from personnel training to control of the rails in order to prevent situations like Derayman to endanger life and property safety, Güre said, “Safety is very important for us, and in this context, we check the rails every day after the voyages. In case of a problem, we carry out repair and maintenance work. Since the most recent Düzce earthquake also affected Ankara, we checked almost all of our lines, including ANKARAY. Our wagons went back and forth on rails. When we determined that there was no problem, we started our flights again in the morning. Our derayman trainings for our personnel continue on a routine basis," he said.
