Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank opened the Technical Textile Center, which was financed within the framework of the financial cooperation of the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, and implemented within the scope of the "Transformation into Technical Textiles in Denizli" project with the Competitive Sectors Program of the Ministry. The center, which was established on an area of ​​​​XNUMX square meters, will provide companies with the opportunity to produce prototypes.

Minister Varank stated that Turkey is among the 3 largest suppliers of textiles and ready-made clothing in the European Union and said, "According to the current data announced in the past days, we have achieved another record in textile and exported 11 billion dollars in the first 9,5 months." said.

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

In his opening speech, Minister Varank explained that they implement data-oriented policies in many areas from planned industrial infrastructures to business and investment environment, from R&D and technology ecosystem to regional development, "While we are trying to direct our national resources to the right areas by using them efficiently, on the other hand, we are also using international financing resources. We try to make the most of it.” he said.

41 PROJECTS, CONTRIBUTION OF 2.5 BILLION TL

Explaining that the first of these financing sources is the Competitive Sectors Program carried out with the European Union, Varank said, “With this program, whose first term was completed in 2018 with the theme of regional competitiveness, we have been instrumental in the establishment of 262 new businesses and the creation of a fund of approximately 10 billion liras for the use of SMEs. In our second term, we aimed to increase our strength in global competition with innovative products and determined the focus of the program as competitiveness and innovation. In this period, we will contribute approximately 41 billion liras to 2,5 different projects.” used his statements.

Stating that they are carrying out the Technical Textile Transformation Project, which is an exemplary project focusing on the textile industry in Denizli, Varank said that they will strengthen the infrastructure and innovation capacity of SMEs under the umbrella of the project.

Stating that the most important output of the project is the center, Minister Varank emphasized that textile is one of the leading sectors of the country in terms of its contribution to national income, its share in industrial production, employment and investments it provides.

Pointing out that Turkey is among the 3 biggest suppliers of the European Union in textile and ready-made clothing, Varank said, “According to the current data announced in the past days, we have achieved another record in textile and exported 11 billion dollars in the first 9,5 months.” he said.

Stating that they made significant investments in textile, ready-made clothing and apparel fields, Varank said, “We supported our companies to move forward in these areas. Stating that they do not look at the issues from a single perspective, Varank said, "We are a country of 85 million people. Of course we invest in technology. We invest in R&D, we invest in value-added businesses, but we also have to invest in human-intensive businesses and create employment.” he said.

Minister Varank, expressing that the point reached is a success for Turkey, said, “We need to take this much further and ensure sustainability. The number of our competitors who can produce innovative and higher quality products is increasing day by day. In addition, the expectations of users and global brands from their products are increasing. Now we need to go one step beyond contract manufacturing. In order to increase our global competitiveness, we need to add products that combine R&D and advanced technology to our portfolio.” used his statements.

160 BILLION DOLLARS EXPORT MARKET

Stating that technical textile has become the fastest growing segment in the sector during the pandemic process, Varank noted that the technical textile market is predicted to be an export market of 160 billion dollars together with the sub-sectors.

Expressing that Turkey is in the top 2021 in world technical textile exports with a performance of 2,4 billion dollars in 20, Varank said, “However, our country, which has the largest textile and apparel production capacity in Europe, has become more competitive in the field of technical textiles. It's not a choice, it's a necessity.” said.

THOUSAND SQUARE METERS

Minister Varank noted that thanks to the state-of-the-art machinery park in the Technical Textile Center established in Denizli Organized Industrial Zone, significant contributions will be made to industrialists, manufacturers and researchers engaged in R&D, and that the center with a closed area of ​​1000 square meters provides companies with the opportunity to produce prototypes.

WILL OPEN THE DOORS TO NEW MARKETS

Varank said, “Our SMEs or entrepreneurs already engaged in conventional production will be able to produce their sample products from this facility without incurring high investment costs. They will be able to cultivate their product ideas for the use of many different sectors such as automotive, aviation, health and construction. These innovative products, prototypes of which are produced here, will later open the doors of new markets with mass production. We said Denizli is one of the locomotive cities of the textile industry, but I believe that with the transformation it will experience in technical textiles, Denizli will be the Messi of the textile industry and I hope it will lead the whole of Turkey.” he said.

CONSULTANCY ACTIVITY WILL ALSO BE CONDUCTED

Stating that analysis, consultancy and guidance activities will also be carried out within the scope of the project, which they support with a budget of approximately 80 million liras, Varank said that he believes that all stakeholders will fulfill their responsibilities in ensuring the continuity of this center.

Varank stated that they will build a vocational training and testing center next to this center in the future. After the opening, he tested the fire resistant glove developed at the center.
