Çiğli Tramway, which is being built by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, is coming to an end. In the project, it was time to energize the catenary wires on the line. Citizens were asked to be careful in this regard, as there will be high voltage on the wires along the line starting today.
Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's rail system attack continues. Konak Tram, Karşıyaka Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which carries approximately 3 thousand passengers a day with the tram, Fahrettin Altay-Evka-500 Metro line, is preparing to put the Çiğli Tram into service. Before the test drives that will start soon, it is time to supply electrical energy to the line. As of today (Tuesday, December 20), 750V DC electric current will be supplied to the catenary wires as part of the test operations. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality officials warned to be careful in order to avoid loss of life and property as there will be high voltage energy on the route.

Opens for business in March
Çiğli Tramway, about 90 of which has been completed, is planned to be put into operation in March 2023. The cost of the investment, which will significantly ease the traffic in Çiğli and facilitate access to hospitals, universities and industry in the region, has reached 1,5 billion liras.
Where will it go?
The line, which will consist of 11 kilometers and 14 stations, will start from the Cevreyolu Station and will be connected to Çiğli Ataşehir Mahallesi with a viaduct. The route of the line is planned to serve the Ring Road Station, Ataşehir, Çiğli Ataşehir District, Çiğli İZBAN Station, Çiğli Regional Training Hospital, Ata Industrial Zone, Katip Çelebi University and Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone.
