The launch and publicity meeting of the Eskişehir Model Factory, which is being carried out in partnership with the TR Ministry of Industry and Technology and Eskişehir Chamber of Industry, and the installation work has reached the final stage, was held at the Eskişehir Chamber of Industry.

Eskişehir Chamber of Industry Chairman of the Board Mr. Celalettin KESİKBAŞ, Ankara Chamber of Industry Chairman of the Board M. Nurettin ÖZDEBİR and TR Ministry of Industry and Technology Strategic Research and Efficiency General Manager Prof. Dr. After the opening speeches at the launch meeting attended by İlker Murat AR, a cooperation protocol was signed between the institutions regarding the establishment of Eskişehir Model Factory. In accordance with the protocol, Ankara Model Factory, Turkey's first Model Factory, will undertake the installation consultancy of Eskişehir Model Factory, and thus it will be possible to quickly transfer all the experience and technical knowledge gained in our existing Model Factories to the newly established Model Factories.

Our efficiency will increase, our costs will decrease

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Eskişehir Chamber of Industry Chairman Celalettin KESİKBAŞ made the following statements. “The Eskişehir Model Factory project, which is being implemented under the direction of our Chamber with the support of our Ministry of Industry and Technology, will make very important contributions to the green and digital transformation of our region's industry. I would like to thank our Ministry once again for their support. The Model Factory project aims to increase the international competitiveness of Eskişehir, the region and our country by ensuring the efficiency transformation of the manufacturing industry. In a real production environment where there is freedom to make mistakes, we mediate the acquisition of a Center for common use in the region, which provides training and consultancy services in this field, providing the teaching and dissemination of operational excellence principles in the fields of lean production and industrial efficiency. We hope that Eskişehir Model Factory will provide serious services to our region and be a catalyst in the green and digital transformation process called twin transformation.”

Lean and digital will guide

TC Ministry of Industry and Technology Strategic Research and Efficiency General Manager Prof. Dr. Ilker Murat AR drew attention to the fact that Model Factories are to guide the lean and digital journeys of our businesses with a simple expression, and said: “Our businesses have gained a lot of efficiency from the Model Factories. Therefore, our obligation to establish new model factories has increased. In this direction, we set out to add new ones to 8 new model factories. Its establishment in Eskişehir would not have escaped our attention. With the approval of our Minister, Mustafa Varank, we started in Eskişehir. However, it was very important for our local stakeholders to embrace the project in the realization of the project. Our Eskişehir Chamber of Industry has embraced this in Eskişehir as well. Model Factory works started in Eskişehir with the support of BEBKA and started to progress rapidly. Today we started the first application here. From now on, our companies in Eskişehir will hear the concept of learn-return issue a lot.”

150 percent productivity increase

In his speech, he said, “As Ankara Chamber of Industry, we are working intensively on efficiency, which we find very important.” M. Nurettin ÖZDEBİR, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ankara Chamber of Industry, continued his words as follows;

“We brought Turkey's first Model Factory to Ankara in 2018 together with the Ministry of Industry and Technology. As a result of each program we implement, productivity increases of more than 150 percent emerge. In other words, the productivity gains that emerged without an investment of 1 lira and without additional employment revealed this dire picture. In other words, we need to solve the productivity problem by learning lean production before digital transformation. It is impossible not to be surprised how our businesses have been able to survive with this efficiency structure. As Ankara Chamber of Industry, we will now give our best support to our Eskişehir Chamber of Industry in this regard with the knowledge we have gained in these 4 years. We will soon sign a cooperation protocol between ASO and ESO on this subject and we will mentor the model factory to be established in Eskişehir. I wish these works to be beneficial for Eskişehir.”
