I greet my physical education teacher Haydar Kazaz, who guided me in athletics in primary school, may God give him good health. He said athletics first, then handball, he drew us such a path. Where there are conscious educators, our children can take a very good path. But there are also high-heeled educational people. These educational people make you feel like it's a school, not just presenting or explaining something. In this context, Kenan Onuk was a complete educator for me during that primary, secondary and high school period in my life. God have mercy. He left us very young. I think he is one of the people who should be taken as an example in the sports press. We named it Maltepe, Kenan Onuk Athletics Track. Because while we were talking about athletics, basketball, and even tennis like this, we experienced a process that teaches, teaches, teaches. God have mercy. I will be honored to keep his name alive here.”

“WE ARE WORKING TO IMPROVE SPORTS IN SCHOOLS”
Stating that they are working on the gymnasium and material needs of the schools, İmamoğlu said, “We have finished a summer term, schools are opening. With the opening of schools, I also know that our children need regular sports. In this context, I would like our schools to cooperate with us in certain branches in such facilities. I will visit our schools frequently in a few months whenever I have the opportunity. I have my friends work on the need for gyms in nearly 30 schools in order to develop indoor sports, and we aim to lay such a collective foundation before the end of this year. Just last year, we opened a school gym close to that number. It is a very modern facility, I warn my friends to make sure to use quality materials with its equipment, layout, and frankly, I care about this issue as well. Because every athlete who comes here deserves to be in a complete field. Of course, the esteemed managers of this beautiful facility will protect and develop it," he said.

The athletics track, which was brought to Istanbul at the international level; It has a tribune with a total capacity of 980 people, including an audience of 110, a protocol of 31 people and a press of 121. It serves the people of Istanbul between 06:30-10:00/19:00-23:00 and between 10:00-19:00 during the training of licensed athletes.
