Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, which started the construction works of the Buca Metro, protected the trees in Muammer Yaşar Bostancı Park and Selale Park, where the tunnel excavation will be carried out. Some of the uprooted trees will be planted in green areas in the city, and some will be planted in their old places when the construction is completed.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality protected the trees in the construction site so that the tunnel excavations that will provide the Üçyol - Şirinyer connection in the Buca Metro, the biggest investment in the city's history, can be started and the General Asım Gündüz Station can be built.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Parks and Gardens Department teams started the removal of trees in Muammer Yaşar Bostancı Park and Selale Park, where the station will be located, before the construction works. Trees that have been removed with special equipment and techniques will be taken into care and protected in the nurseries of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. Some of the removed trees will be used in green areas throughout the city. The other part will be planted in their old places when the construction is completed. In addition to these trees, new saplings will be planted in the station area and more green space will be created.

Trees will get green areas in autumn

Suat Öztürk, Head of the Afforestation Branch of the Department of Parks and Gardens, said, “Our Bronze President has a special sensitivity regarding the protection of trees, greenery and all natural assets. In line with the instruction of our President, we started the tree removal process in the Waterfall Park, where the works of our Buca Metro will begin. We will protect our trees here by moving them to our nurseries without damaging them. In the autumn, we will take it to green areas and plant it. While doing all these processes, we carry out our work with great care. After the metro works here, we will green this area much better than before and make it available to our citizens.”
