Academicians and practitioners from Turkey and abroad will contribute

The 'Psychosocial Health and Safety at Work Internal Counselor Development Programme', for which applications are made free of charge on the website Psychosocialrisk.org, will be held online with the contribution of many academics and practitioners from Turkey and abroad. Stating that priority will be given to those working as occupational physicians in mining and other heavy industry sectors, especially in the Zonguldak mining basin, Project Coordinator and Director of Istanbul Bilgi University Organizational Psychology Master's Program, Assoc. Dr. İdil Işık stated that their aim is to reach 360 occupational physicians in the first place. Associate Professor. In the webinars between September 22 and October 31, 21 experts will be hosted in 24 sessions. Stating that within the scope of the 'Psychosocial Health and Safety at Work Internal Consultant Development Program', occupational physicians will be trained in many different areas, Project Director Dr. Şafak Öz Aktepe said the following about the training content: “The program includes psychosocial risk assessment model, psychosocial hazard analysis at work, psychosocial resources analysis at work, psychological health analysis at work, psychosocial risk management, psychosocial health and safety climate in businesses, work It covers the topics of job security, job security, justice and trust in organizations, work and life balance, leadership and interpersonal relations, belonging and social support, maltreatment in business life, psychological first aid, therapeutic listening and interview techniques. It will be completed in the form of webinars as well as 12 hours of online training and 18 hours of video training. In addition, occupational physicians participating in the training will have permanent access to the measurement and evaluation application 'Psychosocial Risk Assessment at Work', which was prepared within the framework of the project.

437 occupational physicians enrolled in the training program

President of the Association of Occupational Physicians, Dr. Zühal Akgün stated that the introductory meeting of the program prepared for workplace physicians took place on September 19 and said, “During the meeting attended by 112 physicians, detailed information was given to physicians about the implementation of the Psychosocial Health and Safety Internal Counselor Development Program at Work. A total of 437 workplace physicians participated in the program so far. registered,” he said.

The project aims to raise awareness for psychosocial security in working life.

The Psychosocial Health and Safety at Work project, which was implemented in order to provide psychosocial security in working life, to expand decent work environments and to develop workplace physicians so that miners working in harsh conditions can work psychosocially safely, aims to raise awareness in all other sectors throughout Turkey. Subjects such as psychosocial security, which are extremely new to working life, are discussed in the light of ISO 45003 standard, with the aim of raising awareness among academia, professional life, beneficiary institutions, public authorities, occupational health and safety workers, and occupational physicians. Project Coordinator, Expert Psychologist Esin Çetin Özbudak, who stated that within the scope of the project, content supporting the project outputs such as podcasts and blog posts was produced, noted that the field studies of the project, which is among the 400 projects deemed worthy of support among 37 studies, were carried out in Zonguldak.

About the project

Supported within the scope of the "Improvement of Occupational Health and Safety Grant Program" under the "Employment, Education, Social Policies Sectoral Operational Program" component of the Instrument for Pre-Accession (IPA-Instrument for Pre Accession) developed within the scope of financial cooperation between the Republic of Turkey and the European Union. “Capacity Development of Workplace Physicians Project for the Evaluation and Prevention of Psychosocial Risks of Employees in the Mining Industry” has been carrying out its field studies in Zonguldak since March 2021. The total budget of the project, in which Istanbul Bilgi University is the beneficiary and the Occupational Physicians Association is the joint beneficiary, is 211.840,62 Euros. EUR 23.154,18 of this amount is realized as the co-financing contribution of Istanbul Bilgi University.
