UTIKAD and Istanbul University Collaborate for Female Students

A cooperation protocol was signed between the International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers Association UTIKAD and Istanbul University Faculty of Transport and Logistics Logistics Management Undergraduate Program. Within the scope of the “Mentor-Mentee” project of UTIKAD Women's Focus Group, 15 leading logistics women and 15 female students were paired. The leading women of the sector will guide the female students in accordance with the project.

International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers Association UTIKAD has added a new one to its efforts to increase female employment in the logistics sector. Members of the Women's Focus Group, which continues to work under the coordination of UTIKAD Chairman of the Board Ayşem Ulusoy; On Monday, April 4, 2022, Istanbul University Faculty of Transport and Logistics signed a protocol with the Logistics Management Undergraduate Program.

UTIKAD Chairman of the Board Ayşem Ulusoy and Istanbul University Faculty of Transport and Logistics Dean Prof. Dr. With the “Mentor-Mentee” application in the protocol signed between Abdullah Okumuş, the first meeting took place between fifteen leading female logisticians and fifteen female students who are members of UTIKAD Women's Focus Group.

With the signed protocol, the “Mentor-Mentee” application, which brings together the leading women of the industry with female students, will enable students to complete their compulsory internship studies, while at the same time, logistics students will benefit from the knowledge and experience of the leading women of the industry.

Expressing that she is happy to sign this protocol, UTIKAD President Ayşem Ulusoy; “As UTIKAD, we support the steps to be taken to draw attention to the awareness of the existence of women in our sector on every platform. As the coordinator of the Women Focus Group, which we created for the first time this year, together with my presidency, we aim to carry out more innovative and more social studies that can increase the effectiveness of women in the logistics sector. We aim to strengthen our female students studying logistics within the scope of these projects," he said.

Considering the data in Turkey, Ulusoy stated that the rate of female employees in terms of workforce is below 15 percent; “Women are strong in the logistics industry. Together, we will continue our efforts to emphasize women's employment, to draw attention to gender equality and to pioneer equality against women workers in the logistics sector. After the parties signed the protocol, UTIKAD Board Member Sibel Gültekin Karagöz, Women Focus Group Member Esen Öz Tekayak and Canan Payla, who will mentor within the scope of the project, met for the first time with fifteen female mentee students. The meeting ended after the family photo was taken.
