Dr. Belgin Sever was deemed worthy of the “Young Woman Researcher” award at the “7th Women Awards-Venus International Women Awards (VIWA) 2022” award ceremony organized by the “Venus International Foundation”.

Assoc. Dr. Sever: “I am proud to represent my country, university and faculty with this international award I have won”

Making Anadolu University proud in the international arena with the award he received, Faculty of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Assoc. Dr. Belgin Sever expressed her feelings and thoughts as follows: “I am proud to represent my country, university and faculty with this international award I have won. Similarly, with the TAKEDA Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Research Scholarship that I won in 2020, I was honored by my advisor at Japan Kumamoto University, Faculty of Life Sciences, Medicinal and Biological Chemistry Science Farm Joint Research Laboratory, Prof. Dr. Under the leadership of Mikako Fujita, I represented my university and faculty on the international platform, especially by working on the development of new generation anti-HIV drug candidates. During this period, I focused on the design, synthesis and activities of compounds that could be effective on Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) diseases, which do not have a radical treatment in the world, as well as the design and development of compounds that can have anticancer effects, which constitute a large part of my work area in Turkey. I did studies. I will continue my studies in the same laboratory and with the same team in Japan with the TÜBİTAK 2021 Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program I won in 2219. The activity studies of the new compounds we will synthesize in this project will be much more targeted and mechanistic. If my project achieves our goals, we are considering applying for an international patent for active and optimized new molecules. This project will also contribute to the development of academic cooperation between Japan and Turkey. For his support and contributions in my academic studies, I would like to thank Prof. Dr. I would like to thank Halil İbrahim Çiftçi.”
