Dr. Fevzi Özgönül warned that if you see someone around you who has a very dry mouth, drinks a lot of water, urinates a lot, and is very hungry, suggest that they have a blood sugar test immediately. Diabetes, which is called diabetes in medicine, is a disease of a gland called the pancreas, located just behind the stomach.

The pancreas gland both secretes enzymes for the digestion of the foods we eat and produces a hormone called insulin that enables the sugar in the blood to be used by the cells. Insulin hormone allows the sugar in the blood to enter the cell so that the cells can continue to live. If the insulin hormone is not secreted enough, we feel hungry all the time and the amount of sugar in the blood increases excessively. When the amount of sugar in the blood is too high, the tiny blood vessels are blocked.

Dr.Özgönül said, “Our kidneys, eyes, heart, the tips of our hands and feet are most affected by this situation. Afterwards, all our organs are damaged and cannot fulfill their duties in a healthy way.

Symptoms;

We begin to be very thirsty in order to expel the high sugar in the blood out of the body with urine. Therefore, we begin to urinate very often.

Since blood sugar cannot enter the cell, our body is always hungry and we eat a lot.

If you see someone around you who has a very dry mouth, drinks a lot of water, urinates a lot, and is very hungry, suggest that they have a blood sugar test immediately. Because these three symptoms are the first signs of diabetes.

Apart from these first 3 symptoms, weakness, sudden weight loss, fatigue, numbness, tingling, loss of sensation in the fingertips and visual disturbances begin in our body, especially in the arms and legs. After the first period has passed, an excessive weight gain begins. Although they drink a lot of water, their skin is always dry. They also get frequent urinary tract infections because they expel blood sugar with urine.

Diabetes is of 2 types

In patients with type 1 diabetes, the beta cells that make insulin in the pancreas are damaged or occur with diseases that prevent insulin production. It appears from birth or at a very young age. Insulin is either not produced at all or very little is produced.

In patients with type 2 diabetes, the problem is not the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin. Here, the pancreas either cannot produce enough insulin due to the person's consumption of carbohydrates, or because the insulin cannot function, high sugar levels occur.

In some pregnancies, gestational diabetes may occur due to hormonal secretion. After pregnancy, blood sugar may return to its normal level. However, such patients are people who can have type 2 diabetes at any time.

Dr. Fevzi Özgönül, "If you do not want to get rid of diabetes or get diabetes, do the following. Try to stay away from sweets and pastries. Restore your body's biological rhythm. Biological rhythm for humans is to start the day with an early breakfast, not to exceed 4 meals a day, Preferring water instead of beverages such as tea and coffee, being asleep between 23:00 and 02:00 means taking at least 5.000 steps during the day.
