“Anatolia; Contemporary Touches Inspired by Anatolian History”. A selection of artists, determined by an interdisciplinary program with traditional to contemporary influences in contemporary art, under the theme of “Women and Rugs” brought together art lovers on 22 March. Bringing together thirty artists, Painter and Curator Caner Kemahlıoğlu enriched the timeless values of Anatolian history with artistic interpretations and manifestos. Among the artists are names such as Günsu Saraçoğlu, Ali Rıza Kanaç, Kübra Kılıç, Tolga Sağtaş, Melih Can, Mesut Seven, Kadriye Epik, Ayşegül Baş, Hilal Aytak.
In Kemahlıoğlu works; Considering the cultural, ethnic and traditional structures in the history of Anatolia and humanity as a heritage value from the past to the present, we have brought a contemporary perspective and interpretation to history, taking into account the history of Anatolia, that is, our lands, and its neighbors to many cultures, based on these concepts with the artists. Assuming that the motifs have a language, it was determined that they were reflected on rugs, carpets, tiles and many other fields of art, and they were reinterpreted with interdisciplinary conceptual styles in this lane. Artists reflecting the civilization of our Anatolia have added interpretations of Turkish traditional and local structures and phenomena in their works, inspired by the archaeological finds.
In the project, Kemahlıoğlu told the artists “Anatolia. By presenting the concepts of “Women and Rugs”, she opens an up-to-date window to history and presents Anatolian breezes on a golden platter.
The exhibition can be visited until March 24, 2022.
