State artist Zehra Macide Tanır, one of the successful actresses of Turkish theater, was commemorated at her grave in Emirgan Cemetery by the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV), to which she donated all her property, on the 9th anniversary of her death.

Macide Tanır (born on 11 March 1920 – Died on 6 February 2013) is a Turkish theater and cinema artist. He joined the State Theater in 1943. He continued his stage life until 1985. He was awarded the title of State Artist in 1991. In addition to his acting, he was also known for his radio theater and voiceovers.

Macide Tanır was born on January 1, 1922. His father, İbrahim Birmeç, was a veterinary officer who had immigrated from Yanya to Istanbul. He grew up in Pendik. After completing her high school education at Erenköy Girls' High School, she entered Ankara State Conservatory with her father's encouragement. She started her education in the Singing Department. She skipped a grade a year later and switched departments to the theater department. She joined the State Theater in 1943 after her master's degree. She made her debut with Moliere's Fool of Kindness. She has appeared in more than sixty works. She was retired from the State Theater in 1985. She acted in Theater Kare for two years.

After his retirement, he acted in movies such as Yer Demir Gök Bakır, Crab Sepeti and Cumhuriyet, and in television series such as Bahar's Ending Place and Şehnaz Tango. He became known for his voice as well as his acting thanks to radio theater and voice-overs.

The artist, who was awarded many acting awards, received the title of State Artist in 1991. His book "The Witch of the Theater", in which he told his memories, was published in 2000.

He died of respiratory failure in the intensive care unit on February 6, 2013. Tanir's body was buried in Emirgan Cemetery.
