Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality continues its preparations for the "International Sky Observation Event", which will be held in Zerzevan Castle this year.
The Metropolitan Municipality took action after the decision to hold the International Sky Observation Event, the country's most comprehensive astronomy and outdoor event, in Antalya Saklıkent for 22 years, by the Turkish National Observatory (TUG) this year.
Building Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department carried out work on an area of 10 square meters in the historical Zerzevan Castle, which was nominated for the World Heritage List by UNESCO and is considered one of the 8 best places for sky observation in Turkey.
DBB organized the space for the guests to attend the event
For the "2 International Diyarbakır Zerzevan Sky Observation Event" to be held between September 4-2021, 2021, the teams expanded the area by filling with 8 cubic meters of material in the 600 square meter section where guests from abroad and domestically will set up tents and stay in the city.
The teams then laid 4 tons of material on the floor of the expanded area, considering that tents and stands would be left.
More than 2 astronomy enthusiasts, together with professional and amateur astronomers from all over Turkey, are expected to attend the "International Sky Observation Event", which will be held at Zerzevan Castle between September 4-2021, 1000.
Seminars, competitions, and many astronomy-related workshops are planned for the event.
The International Sky Observation Event, organized with the vision of the National Space Program, also aims to increase the interest of young people in space.
