IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlustarted the distribution of sacrificial meat donated by philanthropic citizens to those in need with the safe hand of IMM. With the aid campaign organized by the Istanbul Foundation and collecting donations of 26 million 533 thousand 500 liras, 231 thousand families in need will be delivered sacrificial meat and broth. Speaking at the meat distribution ceremony of the aid campaign, İmamoğlu said, “Let us declare again that the Istanbul Foundation is truly a foundation belonging to the people of Istanbul. It was established by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality years ago and through this foundation, a reliable chain has been formed. Last year, we were able to deliver sacrificial meat to 132 thousand 50 families. This year, we will deliver meat and broth to 231 families. We want to further increase this target. All of the victim skins will be sold and given to students by the Istanbul Foundation as a scholarship. Istanbul Foundation," he said.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluparticipated in the distribution start ceremony of the Eid-al-Adha Donation Campaign organized by the Istanbul Foundation for the second time this year. With the contributions of 2 donors, 15 canned cubes and 162 jars of additive-free collagen (broth) were obtained and started to be sent to those in need.
The ceremony held in the additional service building of the Police Department in Zeytinburnu, Ekrem İmamoğluIn addition to , IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, Deputy Secretary General Şengül Altan Arslan, Istanbul Foundation President Perihan Yücel, Social Services Department Head Yavuz Saltık and the officials of the company that performs the slaughtering and canning of the victims.
WE WILL REACH OUR 231 THOUSAND HOUSES
Making a statement to the press before the first delivery vehicle was sent, İmamoğlu said that with the contributions of 15 donors, 162 canned cubes and 213 jars of additive-free collagen (broth) were obtained. İmamoğlu said, “We will be distributing the roasted meat of the sacrifice donation made through the Istanbul Foundation. The meat of the sacrifice arrived in Istanbul in 500 trucks and distribution will begin as of September 17," he said.
WE WANT TO GROW THE TARGET
Noting that they delivered sacrificial meat to 132 thousand 50 families last year, and this number increased to 231 families, İmamoğlu said, “We want to further enlarge this target. Let us declare again that the Istanbul Foundation is truly a foundation belonging to the people of Istanbul. It was established by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality years ago, and through this foundation, with the formation of this reliable chain, let us declare once again that we are the institution where the people of Istanbul will cut their victims in the most reliable way and direct their victims to support the citizens.”
OUR CITIZENS' CONSCIENCE CAN BE COMFORTABLE
İmamoğlu said that they do not only follow the sacrificial slaughter, but also investigate the company that makes the sacrifice in every detail against any problems that may arise before and after. İmamoğlu shared the following details for transparency:
“Last year, we had our victims cut in the Kemalpaşa district of İzmir. This year, we worked with the same company. The firm has a daily capacity of 450 tons. We determined that it is an environmentally sensitive company with a waste water treatment plant, and we started to work by establishing trust at every point. In this process, my friends inspected all the documents one by one, including working license, environmental permit, business approval certificate, halal slaughter certificate, and quality management. In fact, I am announcing this so that our citizens are comfortable in their own conscience, that we are not only interested in this segment, and that there are no troublesome situations before or after it."
VICTORY SKINS GIVES SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDENTS
Reminding that the foundation had made a statement about the skins of slaughtered animals before, İmamoğlu said, "These skins have been sold and the income from the sales will be distributed by our Istanbul Foundation as student scholarships." Emphasizing that the offal was also shared with the surrounding soup kitchens and families in need, İmamoğlu said, "Of course, the process was managed without any loss or damage, together with the slaughter of sacrifices."
EVERYTHING IS RECORDED
İmamoğlu also gave information about the slaughtering process, emphasizing that everything was recorded and the benevolent citizens were informed step by step in all the slaughtering processes. İmamoğlu shared the following details:
“This year, my friends also did a special job. With the leftover bones, pure collagen, that is, broth, was produced. They will have distributed this broth to families in need, especially my friends, who are sensitive about its consumption by children, in parallel with our Halk Milk distribution. All processes of the cuts were taken under camera recording. It was carried out under the supervision of a notary public, together with our foundation manager. The proxies were handed over to the person who would make the slaughter, fulfilling all their religious obligations. Prayers were made with the imam of the Diyanet. The process was carried out together with the veterinary control in that region, which is affiliated to our agriculture district directorate, and the slaughtering was carried out by reading the names of each donor. As of the moment this slaughter took place, all of this information was shared as an SMS to our citizen who donated.”
NO ADDITIVES USED
Sharing the information that the meat is taken to rest for 3 days after the sacrifice process and then kept for 21 days after the canning process, İmamoğlu said that the meat is then processed and canned and no additives are used.
FISH BRUSH WAS PREFERRED THIS YEAR
İmamoğlu said that speculation was created last year due to the minced meat made from the meat of the sacrifice, and therefore, only cubed meat was preferred this year in order not to lay the groundwork for a number of malevolent issues. İmamoğlu continued as follows: “The victims donated to us by the people of Istanbul before the Eid al-Adha have turned into a ready-made product today. And this product, meat, will reach the table of our citizens in need, as their warm hands, as their conscience. I think this spiritual bond, this spiritual bridge is very valuable. There should be more in number.”
After the statement he made, İmamoğlu symbolically sent the first vehicle and the meat of the sacrifice began to be distributed to families in need.
