Works for Ümraniye Sancaktepe Metro Continues

After the Üsküdar Ümraniye Metro, which was opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the past weeks, the work for the second stage was accelerated.

In recent years, the number of new metro lines in Istanbul will be added. The first section of Üsküdar, Ümraniye, Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe Metro Lines, which was started to work in 2012, was opened in the last weeks with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The second phase of the Metro Line, Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe, is still under construction. Officials announced that the second part will be inaugurated in June.

First on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul Kadıköy Kartal Metro Line was opened and this line was later extended to Tavsantepe. The second metro line was put into service in the past days with the opening made by the President with the feature of the first driverless metro line that will operate between Üsküdar and Ümraniye. There is also a substantially continuing second part of the opened subway. Starting from Üsküdar and continuing for Ümraniye, Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe, the works will be completed until June next year. The total length of Üsküdar Sancaktepe Metro Line will be completed in twenty kilometers.

There will be sixteen stations in the subway and will consist of a hundred and twenty six wagons. The metro line, which has a one-way transport capacity of sixty-five thousand passengers in one hour, will carry seven hundred thousand people on average in one day. With the new stage to be opened, it is aimed to prevent traffic problems.
