Minister Ahmet Arslan stated that while the Marmaray was being built, very extensive measures were taken in terms of occupational safety and that such a situation was not experienced, “Due to this accident, a single line operation was carried out until approximately 11.30 today. As you know, train services had to go up to 15 minutes in single line operation. However, as of 11.30-12.00, trips returned to normal again and Marmaray started to serve as two-way again. Therefore, I wish my condolences and patience to the family of mercy to our friend who passed away again. On this occasion, I also extend my condolences to my colleagues. There is also a fact that when we were doing a big project like Marmaray, we really took all our precautions regarding occupational safety in all these processes. We have not experienced this type of event. But unfortunately such an incident occurred as of midnight last night. Our technical experts do the necessary work. "The reason is being investigated as of today, whether it is caused by our friend's mistake or by other reasons."
Emphasizing that the technical controls are carried out regularly in the Marmaray tunnel, Minister Arslan said, “The works in the tunnel continue to be inspected at all times. Friends do all repairs and maintenance all the time. This happened while yesterday doing a work in this sense. Unfortunately, due to a misperception, there was a news that the incident happened last night in Eurasia, but it happened in Marmaray. All of our work in the Eurasia tunnel continues with its opening on December 20 ”.
