Halic Metro Transition Bridge construction works

Entering the construction site of the bridge connecting Karaköy and Unkapanı, Zaman watched the assembly of the piers lowered into the water last month. The bridge, which brought the exclusion of Istanbul from the World Heritage List on the grounds that it will affect the silhouette of the Süleymaniye Mosque, is planned to be completed on 29 October 2013. With the project revisions requested by UNESCO, the construction of the bridge, whose construction was interrupted, resumed. 217 people work on the two construction sites of the bridge.

Motor voyages continue throughout the day on two safe roads designated for sea crossing. Millimetric calculations are made in the assembly of bridge piers with a weight ranging from 380 to 450 tons, manufactured in Yalova. A special crane was brought in to place the bridge piers. The crane, which has a carrying capacity of 800 tons, will be dismantled after all of the legs are placed. Bridge piers placed on top of piles cut 3 meters below sea level stem from piles in dry pools built under water. Two of the 5 pillars of the bridge have been placed.
