BMW Doubles Its Sales in the First Half of 2022

In the first half of 2022, the BMW Group sold a total of 75.891 electric vehicles belonging to the BMW and Mini brands worldwide. This sales figure means that the Group has more than doubled BMW sales by 110,3 percent compared to the same period last year.

The Mini brand sold a total of 2022 all-electric Cooper SEs between January and June 18.430, an increase of 37 percent.
The company also wants to more than double its sales of all-electric vehicles from the previous year by the end of the year. In a statement, the BMW Group gave the message that "we are ready to achieve this target" after the first half of the year. The BMW Group aims to have more than two million fully electric vehicles on the roads by the end of 2025.

Existing models will not be the only ones on the way, the model range will be quickly expanded:

  • new BMW X1 – It will be available with an all-electric drive for the first time from October.
  • BMW i3 (in China) and
  • BMW i7 models will be added to existing models this year.
  • BMW i5 - next year,
  • Mini Countryman ve
  • Rolls-Royce Specter, It will enter the sales list as fully electric.

The Mini brand plans to have a special all-electric series from the early 2030s. Rolls-Royce will also become an all-electric brand from 2030. In addition, all future BMW Motorrad models in the urban mobility segment will be fully electric.

Cumulative sales of BMW and Mini in Europe in the first half of the year were reported to be 433.989 units (-13,9 percent) across all powertrain types. Between January and June, 124.350 BMW and Mini brand vehicles were registered in Germany. With an increase of 30,8 percent (15.064), the focus was also on increasing electric mobility in the German market.
