Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced the date when the high-speed train line, which will reduce the distance between Ankara and İzmir to 3.5 hours, will be put into service. Uraloğlu said, “We will complete the project in 2027 and put it into service.”

The construction of the Ankara-İzmir high-speed train line continues at full speed. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu examined the tunnels on the Ankara-İzmir High Speed ​​​​Train route, which is under construction, and received information from the authorities.

Minister Uraloğlu's first stop was Afyonkarahisar. Uraloğlu examined the Bayat-2 Tunnel, which is under construction on the Ankara-İzmir YHT in Bayat district, then the splitting production and infrastructure platforms in Sinanpaşa district. Minister Uraloğlu, who examined all the routes one by one, followed the Eşme Salihli Project T23 Tunnel works in Uşak and passed to Manisa. He received information about YHT works at Alaşehir Construction Site.

Minister Uraloğlu stated that with the completion of the Ankara-İzmir High Speed ​​​​Train project in 2027, the distance from 824 km with the existing railway connection will decrease to 624 km. Uraloğlu said, “The travel time between Ankara and İzmir, which is 14 hours, will be reduced to 3 hours and 30 minutes. With 9 stations, more than 7 million people living in Afyonkarahisar, Uşak, Manisa and İzmir provinces will directly meet with the comfort of high-speed trains. Considering the interaction with surrounding provinces such as Kütahya, the population benefiting from the YHT service will increase even more. It will increase the trade volume in the region by bringing İzmir, the third largest city of our country with its industry, tourism potential and port, and the provinces of Manisa, Uşak and Afyonkarahisar on the route closer to Ankara.”

Minister Uraloğlu noted that railway travel, which has not been preferred by citizens for many years, has now been transformed into the first address of fast and comfortable travel.

Minister Uraloğlu said, “When our project is completed, the line length between Ankara and İzmir will be reduced to 624 kilometers. We anticipate that we will carry approximately 13,3 million passengers and 90 million tons of cargo per year. Within the scope of the project, we will construct 40,7 tunnels with a length of 49 kilometers, and 21,2 viaducts with a length of 67 kilometers, and 66 bridges. With the completion of the Ankara-İzmir High Speed ​​​​Train Project, we aim to save approximately 8 billion liras annually from items such as time, energy and maintenance costs compared to 1,1 mutual daily train services in the first stage.
