Consulting Firm APK-Inform announced on Saturday that Ukraine's state-owned rail company has temporarily restricted the transport of some agricultural products through border crossings to Poland and Romania.

Ukraine, a major agricultural producer, exports most of its goods through seaports, while since the invasion of Russia it has had to export by train from its western border.

APK-Inform announced that restrictions on the transport of goods to Poland via Yahodyn remained from April 16 to April 18. There are still restrictions on the transport of cereals, oilseeds, cereals and other food products via Izov to the Polish towns of Hrubeszew and Slawkov. The consulting firm announced restrictions on grain and seed exports to Romania via the Dyakovo and Vadul-Siret crossings from April 16 until further notice.

Ukraine's agriculture minister, Mykola Solskyi, said this week that the Ministry's main task is to find alternative ways to export Ukrainian grain. The country has millions of tons of various commodities for export. Solskyi also stated that 1,25 million tons of grains and oilseeds were found on blocked commercial ships in Ukrainian ports and may soon be spoiled.

Before the war, Ukraine was exporting up to 6 million tons of grain and oilseeds per month. Exports fell to 200.000 tons in March.
