IETT came to the end of the work it started with the aim of evaluating and documenting the competencies of the drivers working on the metrobus line, where 750 thousand people are transported daily, and created the “Professional Standard of the Metrobus Driver”.
IETT General Directorate, which was authorized by the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK) to determine the national occupational standard of the BRT driver, recently completed the occupational standards of the BRT driver under the protocol signed on 29 August 2012. Minibus driver, School Service Truck Driver of Public Personnel Service Tool driver and to prepare Bus Driver of the standards of Turkey Tradesmen and Artisans Confederation (TESK) and the protocol signed IETT, this was also included in the drafting process of the four standards.
While determining the “National Bus Standard of the Metrobus Driver”, minimum norms indicating the knowledge, skills, attitudes and attitudes required for the successful execution of the profession were determined at the first stage. In the second stage, based on these standards, the competencies that public transportation drivers should possess were revealed. In the next stage, drivers will be subject to theoretical and practical training by organizations accredited to VQA. They will also be documented with an exam at the end of the training. People who do not have a professional qualification certificate with this new standard will not be a public transport driver even if they have a driver's license in the appropriate class. In addition, it will be checked with the inspections to be carried out at certain intervals whether the drivers with the proficiency certificate comply with the specified standards. With the realization of the system, the idea that every driver can be a public transport driver will be a thing of the past.
EVERY DETAIL IS DETAILED
Every detail of the drivers from the pre-preparations required by a chauffeur in the occupational standards before starting the vehicle, as well as all the activities during the driving and the maintenance and cleaning controls that must be done after the ride are detailed. The fact that a public transport driver does his / her job in accordance with occupational standards, above all, promises a healthier and safer travel experience. For example, a bus driver should move the vehicle before moving oil, indicator, etc. routine checks are made as a mandatory rule with the established standard.
IETT General Manager Hayri Baraçlı, one of the efforts to increase the qualified manpower working in the institution, the “Busbus Driver National Occupational Standard”, the drivers working in the public transportation service, to act within the specified standards, to eliminate the deficiencies, to prevent possible accidents, to raise the service quality bar and He stated that it would provide an important added value to increase passenger satisfaction.
He pointed out that the institutions in charge in the service sector should have a qualified and competent staff in order to provide qualified service. Hayri Baraçlı said that IETT will not leave the “continuing education, change and development” route through in-house trainings.
