
II. International Tarsus Festival was held on 17-18-19 November as part of the "Year of the Shahmeran" events. 40 handmade ceramic plates with the theme of Shahmeran, presented to the participants at the festival organized by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, were prepared by the Blue Boncuklu Women's Collective.
Founded and continuing its work under the leadership of ceramic artist Tuğba Küçükbahar; Mavi Boncuklu Women's Collective aims to contribute to women opening a new space in life through art. The completely handmade ceramic design plates prepared by women working within the women's collective were greatly appreciated by the festival participants.
Artist and Mersin City Council Culture and Arts Member Tuğba Küçükbahar; “I would like to underline that the Blue Boncuklu Women's Collective is very important for women to open a brand new space in life with what they produce through art. Şahmeran plates specially designed for the festival; Shaped and colored by hand. Mavi Boncuklu Women's Collective will continue to produce with women's labor and take part in projects. "I would like to thank everyone who supports us, on behalf of all the women within the collective," she expressed her thoughts.
In the "Şahmeran" themed festival held under the coordination of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs; It hosted many events, from workshops to workshops, from fashion shows to interviews, from film screenings to national and international folk dance troupe performances. The festival also included fun activities for children, including animation, theater and music. National and international folk dance groups also performed their local dances for the participants throughout the festival.
