According to the data of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of foreign tourists coming to the city in the January-October period of 2023 increased by 59 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 684 thousand 130, and the number of domestic visitors increased by 21 percent, reaching 531 thousand 907.
The country that sent the most visitors to Trabzon, whose number of tourists increased by 40 percent compared to the same period last year, was Saudi Arabia with 279 thousand 902 people, Oman second with 59 thousand 754, Kuwait third with 42 thousand 147, United Arab Emirates fourth with 42 thousand 60, and 36 visitors. Jordan ranked fifth with 219 people.
426 Thousand 165 Visitors to Sumela Monastery
10 thousand 426 tourists visited Sumela Monastery, one of Turkey's important religious centers, in the last 165 months. There was a 36 percent increase in the number of tourists coming to the monastery compared to the same period last year.
The number of accommodation facilities in the city, which was 2022 in the 10 months of 228, increased by 7 percent this year to 245. The number of beds, which was 16 thousand 965, increased by 4 percent to 17 thousand 594.
International Flights Increased by 26 Percent
There were 10 thousand 62 flights from 3 countries to Trabzon in the 685 months of this year. There was a 26 percent increase in the number of flights to the city compared to the same period of the previous year.
While 366 thousand 349 people came to Trabzon Airport international terminal in the January-October period of last year, the number of passengers in the same period this year increased by 22 percent and reached 446 thousand 476.
